Poll: emin3m, good thing, bad thing

I dont listen to rap by choice at all, I walked into a friends billet on camp a few days back and he was playing one of his songs on some I pod speakers. It bascially went along the lines of "Im going to fucking kill you, I'm well hard" and repeated it over and over again.
Some of his better songs are fairly bearable though, unlike most rappers I know of.

Eminem? I only heard one of his songs, and he's okay. I hear he's quite homophobic though which I don't support.

So homophobic in fact that he performed on stage with Elton John, and hugged the man onstage. Oh and Elton John himself has been quoted saying he considers Eminem a close friend and that they keep in touch regularly. Yup complete gay bashing homophobe right there.*rolls eyes*

Okay, I just know him better as Borat than Bruno. Same guy though.
I also think that was staged, no way that eminem would have just sat there and let him fall on his face.

It was staged, they admitted it afterwards.

OT: He's a good rapper and while he's hit and miss with me the songs that I do like of his are generally some of my favorites in the rap genre. His older sutff was better though.

In my opinion he got way better later on in his career, he started off being obscene, then he got funny, and now he's singing about things that mean something.

Jesus, I hope I'm talking about the right person.

EDIT: I haven't really seen him doing anything controversial lately, could I get a link to why everyone thinks he's attention whoring?

Eminem is the only rapper I'll listen to these days. 50 Cent is my most disliked rapper to date. That Eminem is homophobic doesn't change my opinion of him in the slightest, I don't even know why it should matter, it's his problem nobody elses.

I'm not overly in to him (don't like much of his old stuff) but some of his new songs are good.

He's got a good way of talking about society though, and his lyrics can be funny as anything, and honest. He doesn't BS (in his songs at least) which is the best thing.

Interesting, is it any coincidence that he's a white rapper? Anyway, I don't really like most rap. I can enjoy it if its the you know, "fun" kind, but it annoys me how all the little "gangstas" that I talk to like to think that they're just as good as any professional rappers and thus have a career coming to them. It annoys me even more when they think that some rapper's song is "deep" and has some sort of social commentary even though the rest of the rapper's stuff is about having sex with his girlfriend, shooting his wife's boyfriend, or beating his wife.

eminem in my oppinion is amazing

i find it odd that will all the generic rappers out there parents and "concerned individulas" (read fun sponges) decide to stamp on his comparitive origionality

Not to mention he took several guys and they beat up someone from Insane Clown Posse, at some point he threathened them with a loaded gun and at some point they had Eminem doing a driveby with a FUCKING PAINTBALL GUN on them..

OT: I don't really care. There are FAAAAAR worse than him out there. I've yet to see anyone as bad as 50, though.
