So, the EU ruled that there is nothing companies can do to stop the re-selling of downloaded games. This will obviously effect the market, in which way (good or bad) remains to be seen. My view on it is that the creators will probably start to talk about pre-owned games killing their companies and the market(again). Now I think they are perfectly entitled to complain and appeal the re-selling of their games, as long as they don't try to use this as a platform to completely stop the re-sell of game in general. My second concern is that the re-sell of downloaded games sounds very risky, in terms of safety. Buying a game from the likes of steam is all fine and dandy, but would you feel safe downloading a game from a strangers computer? Or are we going to receive a dedicated market place that can handle transactions. This in turn can create jobs, which would make the EU ruling a good call, but obviously only when it meets certain criteria.
