Have you ever bought a game that you want, played it for an hour or so, then put it on your shelf to play again at an unspecified, far away time? I have been doing it more frequently, I have tons of 360 games I want to play, but lack the motivation to play, like the Condemned series, Fallout 3, Dead Rising, Splinter Cell: DA, RSV 2, and so on. I buy games I want to play in the future, so I have it done, and then play whenever I have the power to move my lazy ass and do something.

I have if I get given a game, occasionally. Mainly because I like to complete a game before I move on to the next one, so if I get two at the same time, one generally sits under played until the other is completed.

Yes, I got The Witcher when I had a crappy PC and I'm waiting for the next update before I install it.

Fallout 1... Bought for $1, saving for time when I'm left with only my laptop and I have no better games to install on it.

Bleh, I do play a game extensively before putting in on a shelf, well, maybe except in the case of DMC 4, didn't really enjoy the love plot > . >

Ditto, oh and Mass Effect.
I still can't bring myself to play it for more than a few moments. It annoys me I'm missing such an epic, apparently.

I got GRAW 2, only to be saddened that the demo was more fun than the actual game.

I barely played Halo 3 and Burnout Paradise after buying them, because I've become re-addicted to Team Fortress 2. Goddamn you Valve.

Oh, and Rainbow Six Vegas 2. It just became boring after a while, I don't know.

I've done this from time to time, usually when I start playing and realize that it's not very good at all. I have played Divine Divinity for a grand total of 10 minutes, and Manhunt for about an hour. I also took a couple of months before I even installed Starcraft or Manhunt.

I'm into that game mostly for the combat, which exceeded my expectations with it's fun combo system. The love plot may be a little badly written, but I like Dante and that mad, stuttering scientist. Their lines are pure gold.

when I got TFU, my 360 was in the shop, so it sat for more then a month before I got to play it... wasn't too impressed when i did though.

I also borrowed GTA4 from a friend of mine for almost5 months before actually sitting down to play it.

I bought the Metal Gear Solid collection, played MGS1 (I had an MGS1 craving and you can't buy MGS1 by itself anymore.. it used to be ubiquitous like FFVII, but not anymore), didn't play MGS2 or MGS3.. in fact, it's the third time I've bought MGS3, and I haven't played any of my bought copies at all, I keep trading it in - I had already beaten it prior to buying it, and I kept getting a deal on it.. stupid me eh?

I bought God of War 2.. played it for about an hour, then put it on my shelf for a year, and never got around to finishing it..

I think that's about it.. I didn't finish Blue Dragon or Lost Odyssey, but those games were mostly bought for my mom, who did finish them.

I bought Dragon quest on the PS2 as it was on offer when I bought Final Fantasy XII. I didn't put Dragon quest in for about four months. When I finally played it I loved it and spent more time playing DQ than I ever spent playing FFXII. Best £10 I have ever spent.

My lil' bro bought a Shadow the Hedgehog game case. I mean it. There was no game inside. He left it on the couch for several months, and didn't tell us there was no game inside. We had no way to get our money back, because we had owned it for long enough. This raises two questions:

1) Why didn't he tell us sooner, like the day he got it, that it had no game inside?

2) WHY WOULD YOU BUY THAT GAME IN THE FIRST PLACE WE ALREADY HAD IT FOR GAME CUBE

I did this with Star Ocean 4.
Wasn't really having fun, so I just kinda stopped playing it.
I also did that with Skies of Arcadia, but I eventually forced myself into Arcadia and ended up beating it a few days later. Fucking addicting game.

I bought Persona 4 and got a fare amount into it, then it was shelved for a long time. Still is actually as it has been about four or five months now. And SMT games are among my favorite series.

I did this once. It was Command and Conquer 3. Most games I play with an obsession until I've completed them, but this didn't happen with C&C3. I enjoy the game, but I bought it in February 09 and still haven't finished it. I'm not sure why.
