BvS killed DC for me.
Couldn't have put it better myself. The Justice League teaser got me mad. Like, irrationally, disproportionately angry. I got angry that they're basically ripping off the Avengers formula (Oh look, we're doing quips, LOVE US!), I got angry that they STILL give the whole thing a bleak and muted tone (seriously, on Man at Arms they showed Movie Aquaman next to Comic Aquaman. Big mistake, showing how bright and vibrant the comic Aquaman is next to Dull Grays Movie Aquaman)... But the those are mostly nitpicks next to my biggest gripe.

I cannot trust DC movies anymore, not after they fucking killed Superman. Batman's going to found the Justice League... WITHOUT Superman. He's one of the DC Trinity, and they killed him two movies into the run.

And if the rumors are true, and Superman will come back for this movie? Well then DC can just go fuck itself with a pitchfork, because that basically admits that they killed Superman JUST to bring him back a movie later. So why fucking bother killing Superman when most fans hadn't even decided if they liked the guy yet?

Killing Superman so early was a mistake, and it should have been spotted back at the very START of the pre-production, and everyone who approved of it should have been slapped, got a pay cut, and given a different job.

So, maybe the SDCC teaser looked less shit than the BvS trailers, and the movie may in fact not be as bad as BvS. I don't care. Given DC any props nowadays feels like giving them a trophy for not shitting the bed.

I don't need a trailer to love Batman. That's a given in life. Doctor Strange, though... I never read him, but he looks interesting.

They pretty much confirmed they are going to bring him back on the next movie by having Cavill in the JL panel.

OT: I think out of the options, I liked the Lego Batman movie better. I am not sure about an entire movie based around him, but I could totally get on board with people calling Lego Batman the best Batman in years, specially after BvS and Dark Knight Rises.

To be fair, though, no one is making me watch these movies, so let people make/watch them until they can't take it anymore.
A lot of good movies of the past, especially action movies, would not have been made if superhero movies had been as popular and numerous back then. Marvel and DC could be preventing better movies from being made.
That doesn't seem fair. That kind of hypothetical situations only work on hindsight: If Bible movies were popular way after their prime in the 50s, we might not have have the Godfather. If Burton's Batman would not have been box office smashes, we would not have had Batman & Robin. If Star Wars didn't redefined blockbusters in the 70s, we may not have had Lord of the Rings...

A lot of bad movies of the past, especially action movies, would not have been made if superhero movies had been as popular back then either, and that would apply to almost any genre. So yes, in the land of hypothetical, we could say they could have prevented Escape from NY from happening, but they may also have prevented Escape from LA, or Highlander 2.

Well, Lego Batman looks fun. Maybe it's sucking the fun and color out of the rest of the DC movies.

Does Doctor Strange look like an origin story to any one else? And not like an Iron Man/Captain America story, where their origin happens in the first act then they go on to being superheroes, but an older "I finally am Doctor Strange in the final act in time to beat the bad guy" origin story
I suspect they kind of have to go that route. They're not just introducing Strange, but the whole concept and mythology of magic in the Marvel Universe, which is as yet untouched by the movies.

If I don't see Robin in the Mariachi costume I'm going to be very sad.

That's certainly true. Magic in the Marvel verse has never gotten as much play as magic in the DC verse. To the point that, outside of Strange, I can kinda think of like, 2 magical entities, whereas I can get over a dozen in DC without trying.

Strange, Ghost Rider, Blade (though they've hopped back and forth with vampires, same with "Gods" really). And the associated rogues galleries thereof.

Dr Doom's also known to use magic, and Deadpool (in terms of his immortality).

Then mostly D-list types.

I think Wonder Woman looks like it's going to be a blast. I'm not extremely familiar with the character as I've really only seen her in DCAU stuff, but WW has always struck me as a character that's criminally underrated. She's an ass kicking warrior princess who is a strong woman rather than a woman who is strong for adopting male qualities.

My girlfriend has a women and gender studies degree (I know, I know) and according to her WW goes largely ignored in all of the scholarly circles she spent time in. You'd think if any group was going to rally behind WW it would be feminists. I know she has a bit of an... interesting past, what with the whole bondage influence and such though.

Anyway, WW is a cool hero, Gal Gadot is hot, and I like the time period so... I'm in.

Yah, definitely getting that vibe. I think they're going to straight up 'rip' the structure out of the Doctor Strange animated film, which isn't a bad thing. If they do, first act is showing him pre-accident (A dick), second act is showing his desperation and the beginning of his training, and the last act is him actually getting down and dirty, becoming the Sorcerer Supreme in the last 10 minutes.
I'm so jaded, that kind of makes me happy because I can just watch the last 10 minutes and be done with it. Even The Flash, I want so badly to like it, but the writing makes it impossible. I'm happy to suspend disbelief, ignore terrible dialogue and nonsensical plots, but if I'm expending so much energy on those activities that I'm not enjoying myself...

Lego Batman can suck a dick.

The first movie I watched in the theaters with my niece in was the corniest facepalm inducing shlock I have ever watched.

This movie is just not made for me at all, I am too old for this.

I am gonna go and watch Robocop 1 now.
I can never tell if you say this stuff unironically. I mean, that is exactly something I'd expect to hear from someone parodying a 15 year old. I'm not trying to attack you here, I just can't tell if you're very committed playing a character or if you're just like that.

(also, I'm okay with receiving a warning for this post. I realize it comes off as very rude but I just have to know if you're really like this and why)

As to the OP, I hope Dr. Strange does something to subvert our expectations of the narrative structure or at least does something interesting with the world building. Marvel has a really fun sandbox to play in with the Dr. Strange and I hope they take advantage of it. Hollywood really seems to have trouble capturing magic in a way that is disarming and inspires awe (which is what magic is supposed to do). Then again, I'm probably biased since The Sorcerer's Apprentice has permanently marred my outlook on this sort of thing.

Batman looks okay/good, but so did the lego movie trailer and that didn't really do the film justice, so I'm hoping the same is the case here.

My favorite trailer is probably Justice League's one. Mostly because of the Pacific Rim-esque music.
You mean the instrumental version of a White Stripes song? Yeah, that was pretty baller...

OT: The LEGO Batman and Luke Cage trailers got me the most hyped overall followed by the Wonder Woman, Justice League, and Doctor Strange trailers...

Other than that, I want to give props to the editors of that soundtrack remix trailer for Suicide Squad... That shit was dope...

So, what do you know? Most people are tired of all this superhero stuff
I don't know if that's true. I mean Civil War made 1.1 billion and even though BVS was apparently terrible (I don't know haven't seen it, voted with my wallet) it still made like 873million.

It's kind of more like "A small vocal portion of the internet are tired of all this superhero stuff"
