Poll: Excruciating Pain, or death?

Let's say you have two options.

1. be tortured insanely but not die. (EDIT: yes, torture is permament. IE losing both arms, impaled, etc.)
2. die painlessly.

What would the escapist choose?

SO long as the torture isn't permanent, that's the option I'd take. I still get to live after it's all said and done.

Well, sometimes I wonder.

First, as a Christian, I'd probably want to remain alive until God told me it's time to go. If there was any chance of survival, I'd go with torture, for the simple reason that God can erase pain. I'd ask Him to give me the strength. After all, there's not much you can do when you're dead, whereas, if you're alive, there still remain possibilities.

I like to think that I'd struggle until the end, but since I've never been in such a situation, I have no basis for comparison. Ask me later.

How long are we taling here? Because I'll get over an hour of pain, I won't get over a moment of death. However I also will not get over a week of being "tortured insanely", because odds are it would send me insane.

Me? I don't do so well with pain. Insanity I'm fine with, but pain? It tends to hurt. But I never do anything about it.

I'd just stand there and keep stabbing the poor bastard. Even if he dies, I still need a place to hold my steak knives.

Depends on how long the torture lasts. 2 hours of pain or 2 weeks of pain are very different things.

1) I don't lose any limbs appendages, ect
2) No homosexual rape
Mainly because I get to keep some badass scars. Other than that, death

Well... death. In a failed attempt at escape. I really don't want to just give up like that, and if I'm killed while fighting, I'll have kept some of my honor. That feels better than just lying on a table with thumbs up my arse.

It really depends on how the torture affects me - if it's going to cause me permanent mental or physical damage, I'd choose death.

as long as the torture doesnt affect the rest of my life id choose it over dieing. that of course includes mental and physical scarring.
