I have a shitload of unused conglomerated ms points, and since I just discovered that I can buy games on demand with them, I want to get myself something nice. Suggestions?

Halo 3 is fantastic, and I'd recommend that, but since Reach is out, the multiplayer population is probably much, much smaller.
In which case I'll recommend either Borderlands or Mass Effect. Both are great RPGs, with one of them being much more RPGish than the other, and the other one being an FPS/RPG hybrid.

do you prefer open worlds and just doing whatever with little care for much else?

fallout 3 and oblivion are definitly solid choices for you.

do you like great characters and pretty plot driven games?

mass effect might be down your alley

some good fps thats modern and pretty balanced?

cod4 is solid choice for sure.

i would also suggest fable maybe? its probably decently cheap and is a fun old action rpgish game

it really depends on what type of game you want to play. if you like playing multiplayer i would recomend CoD4 since it is simple but very rewarding and unlike MW2 it doesnt give you some new perk/ medal/ weapon add-on every time you reload your dam gun, you have to work for what you want. if you looking for a game for single player alone and you dont mind sinking 50+ hours in a single game then oblivion or fallout 3 is great. fallout 3 is a shooter RPG while oblivion is a fantasy RPG so whichever tickles your fancy more will do you just fine.

i wouldnt recommend halo 3 simply because reach is out and everybody has moved on to that except for the people that are way too good at halo 3 and decided to stick around because they think they can rock everybody so unless your into raging at 12 year olds kicking your ass i would say its a pass

dont get force unleashed unless its has all of the DLC because it is very short and it has an unrewarding combat system. its an average hack-and-slasher but without the epic story/ combat that games like god of war has. if your a starwars buff it mite make you giggle at times but its nothing as exciting as any of the other games

EDIT: mass effect is also a great game and it is a shooter RPG like fallout but fallout is more RPG than it is a shooter and ME is more of a shooter than and RPG. both have good story lines but it just depends if you like open world RPGs or semi-open world shooter (you jump from planet to planet but each planet has a confined space you can roam in)

Halo 3, Fallout 3, or Halo: CE. Or CoD4.
I'm still amazed they are just there for download...
I can't get over this whole 'disc-less' thing. Movies on my iPod touch smaller than my hand, and full on MASSIVE games like Fallout 3 and Halo 3 available to download entirely via the internet.

Planet earth has come a long way, my friend.... And we can just barely imagine what shall come next....

OT:I really want to check out Black, that looks like fun, although to be fair the marketplace could do with more xbox originals. Also, Sonic Adventure on XBLA, but no Shenmue or Skies of Arcadia?

The fuck is up with you, SEGA?

I randomly chose between Halo 3 and Mass Effect, and the result was Halo 3. Both are brilliant games - and while I know many play Halo for the multiplayer, I play them for the campaigns and haven't been disappointed with any of them. Halo 3 is no exception, I love its campaign - word of warning though, the difficulty curve is somewhat uneven.

If you have enough MS points, get both.
