Simple question, what Evil Dead movie was your favourite?

My personal favourite is, Evil Dead II, because it was the first one I saw, when sneaking through my Dads VHS collection, so it holds the closest bond with me.
Even looking back on it with out the nostalgia goggles, I still enjoy watching Evil Dead II the most.

So Escapist, what Evil Dead, is your favourite?

I'll go with Evil Dead II for the simple fact that it balanced out the horror and comedy aspect the best, where as Evil Dead was more towards horror and Evil Dead III went too much into comedy. Also, Evil Dead II had the "Chainsaw" Scene, so that helps it to be the best in my book.

What the hell, this poll is fixed! I pressed Army of Darkness and it says 1 vote for evil dead 2!

OT: Army of Darkness. First I ever saw, and by far the funniest and most quoteworthy of them, and to day one of my ALL time favorite films and the film that presented me to the AWESOMENESS that is Bruce Campbell.

The first two are actually good in their own right, and a lot more scary. I rewatched ED1 not long ago with my GF and I was surprised to find that I still found it scary at times, there really are too few scary films nowadays.

Edit: Ah...poll updated now...we're safe...I think.

not to say the first two arent superb, Army of Darkness may be One of the best movies ever made. It's got every thing: Horror, romance, action, adventure, comedy. if you don't like Army of Darkness you are an asshole.

I think Furburt is needed for this thread... as for me I gotta say I'm torn between Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness solely because the first Evil Dead gave me nightmares as a kid and the second made it more funny and thus easier to take.
But Army of Darkness is a cult legend so I guess I'll go with that.

I've got to go with the second, Bruce Campbell just shined in that movie. I haven't seen him in that good of a role since(okay, bubbahotepandburnnotice). And, like a broken record, it balanced the comedy, horror, and action the best. Plus, I've watched a making of and it made me love it even more

Toss-up between II and Army. Army was hilarious and had one-liners by the truckload, but II had the sequence with Bruce getting the crap kicked out of him by his possessed hand...

Upon reflection, I gotta give it to Army. I just use so many quotes from it on a regular basis, I have to give it the edge.

I was sure Furburt would have posted an epic appraisal of each film.

Army of Darkness. Stop motion style action is awesome and amusing to me at the same time.

Army of Darkness has the "Boomstick" scene so it should win by default, but I enjoy the second movie the most.

Aww you're making me choose?!?!? I don't think I can do it! I love them all more than I love the children I don't have!!! Fine I'll vote for the first one because it was the start of something beautiful, but in reality, I'm gonna hafta go with Bubba Hotep, just because I can't pick a personal favorite!

This is like trying to pick your favourite child. They are ALL great, but i think i have to give the edge to Evil Dead II because it was kind of a landmark film in how it combined true horror with slapstick.

That sequence with Bruce Campbell fighting with his hand is the stuff of legend (and was stolen by many other comedians in other films!)

I was lucky enough to have seen "Army of Darkness" in the theater, though, and to this day it remains THE most fun i have ever had at the movies.

The one where he found the Necronamicon and forgot the words so he coughed and tried to fool the book. I saw most of that one but aside from that I haven't seen any.

Kinda' hard for me to cast my vote on ONE. I'm a total Evil Dead fan, through and through.

Evil dead 2 easily. Just for the scene where he's busting through all the doors escaping from something undoubtedly evil and smashes about 10 - 15 doors even though the cabin clearly only has about 3 rooms. Hilarious.

Evil Dead 2 for me. While all were awesome, #2 was the first movie I recall seeing that combine horror and comedy. I love the scene where everything in the cabin is laughing at him. Escpecially the deer head. It looks so evil then it just busts out laughing hysterically.
