Based on the OXM monthly flashback, I would like to know which games you remember most fondly from way back when. Either the first game you ever played, or the first game you went online with etc. Anything you like!

Post your game/s and why you remember them!

For me it has to be the very first RPG I ever played. I am a huge fan of the genre and that was helped by a little game called Jade Empire, back on the original Xbox. The style, the combat and the epic story all set it apart from any game I had played at the time. Since then I have been RPG mad, both solo and MMO, Western and JRPGs.

It's not exactly before online, but when I was a kid I remember playing Star Wars: Battlefront II with my best friends on my Xbox and running around in space trying to find ways to break the game. Eventually, we found out we could jump from the hangar bay and land onto the frigates and destroy turrets -- so we did that to weaken the enemy ships, as they couldn't target where we were.

And then there was also having those Heroic Skirmishes in Mos Eisley, those were the best. Jedi everywhere, hopping all over the place, my friends yelling with me trying desperately to not get diced by Grevious or blown to bits by Fett... That's one of my best memories of a game, of all time.

My most fondly remembered game would be Conker's Bad Fur Day. I loved everything about it, well besides the vampire/zombie story part (I was young dammit). The jokes and references in it were awesome and I remember spending a lot of time in the multiplayer modes with my cousins or on my own.

First online game is kind of hard to remember but it was either Battlefield 1942, Return to Castle Wolfenstein or Counter Strike (we played them in random orders so any of them could be my first one). We used to have gaming nights and just play against each other for about 4 hours and was always a good time.

Umm... I guess it would be, funnily enough, the game called Flashback. (Sometimes subtitled Quest for Identity.) Either that or the Exile games, the ones that were later remade as Avernum.

Oh, and regarding the poll question:

No.

Story in most old games was complete and utter arse. Granted, it hasn't improved all that much, but at least they're trying nowadays. Come to think of it, gameplay wasn't much to write home about either back then. For example, those two games I named above? Both complete arse in the story department. One was arse in the gameplay as well.

Besides, I enjoy a bit of multiplayer every now and again.
