Do the benefits of increased funding and public enthusiasm incumbent during a period of Video Game popularity outwiegh the detrements to the hardcore base, which occur in the forms of a homogenous market, and increased advertising?

I just feel betrayed. I suffered terrible humiliation in my highschool years for being a gamer, and then, to my surprise, The gaming company started to marketing to the same people that would beat us up in high school. Just doesn't sit right with me.
