I was thinking what the escapist community thinks about Gears of War Judgement and weather it will be good for the franchise or completely ruin the lore? So is it welcome or not?

I'm a pretty big Gears Of War fan so my "yay" vote was not without bias.
I've played all the games but I haven't dived into a lot of the lore via books and comics and whatnot so I don't know how it'll do with breaking the lore. But as far as I see it, if they don't break something that's too important and it's a break that makes the gameplay more fun, then by all means, BREAK IT. I'm pretty sure they did that in Gears 3 with the knife bayonet. I read somewhere that the knife would break when against Locust skin and that's why they changed to a chainsaw.
That was breaking the lore but it made the gameplay more fun so that's a win in my book.

I could say something about the fact you can't really ruin the lore of bland porkchops in refrigerators, so I did.

I thought the games were okay for couch co-op, I just wish this game chose someone besides Baird to be the star, as I always thought he was annoying. Still, it'll probably be better than the new Army of Two thing.

You mean Gears 3.5? I say Yay, when it comes to renting it... or wait a year for price to drop.

This. Gears of War "lore," if it can even be called that, is basically Halo without any of the poeticism and interesting art design that redeems Halo lore. You can't break what doesn't exist.

Also, they're making another fucking Gears of War game?

Seriously?

I like the Gears games, and it appears to be handled with care, so I say "yay". Paying full price is a different question though.

Well the campaign is pretty much guaranteed to be better than Gears 3 simply due to no lambent. Not too sure about the multiplayer though. I'm not liking this focus on free for all, and the removal of DBNO isn't a good idea.

You really need yo pull your head out of your ass, The gears game are bad at there Lore telling but its mostly done in there novles and to tell the truth its pretty dark even when put to halo seeing how in 1 its just humans trying to stand there ground, 2 its a destruction of there only home left and then in 3 its literary a fighting retreat!

I like both Halo and Gears but I'm personally interested in this new one seeing how there adding something new to the story mode and the new weapons too vary interesting. The story in this one though is VARY confusing I don't know if a new book is out or not but I have no idea were in the timeline this is or even were they are.

Despite the fact that I really enjoyed the Gears games but I'm just not really feeling this one at all. I'm guessing it's because it's a prequel and I'm just not that interested in the backstory. Oh, and if the lore isn't detailed in the game, then really, it doesn't exist. Not everyone wants to read the novels, after all...

I'm surprised people actually care about the lore.

"Nyay" from me, I almost certainly won't play it because there's loads of stuff I want coming out this year (and my backog is pretty hefty as it is), but I've always enjoyed the Gears series. Say what you like about third-person cover hugging but Gears has always been very good at it, and 3's multiplayer was probably the best I've played on 360.

well they are adding new Locust something we never seen any of the books or games.

New Weapons because after 17 years of war weapons break down same with technology.

But overall I won't mind too much as long as the game is still fun.
This is a problem all "prequel" games have. They need new features or else fans will consider it a step backwards, but they also need to somehow justify those features not being in canonically later games.

A bit like how Halo Reach features aliens which have suddenly become extinct in later games, weapons and vehicles that don't get used after, Spartan armour technology seems to regress for a few years before coming back up to scratch, Aliens who learn and then forget English... if you tried taking it seriously or justifying it canonically you'd tear your own hair out.

Need to see what they are doing for Horde mode. I spent all of my time in Gears 2 in it and most of 3 in it. I can't justify buying it unless they do something new/interesting with Horde.

I have Gears 1 and 2 and are yet to play 3, and how interested in this one depends on if the core gameplay has been tweaked. As I personally find Gears to be too slow paced, too few enemies that camp behind walls too much.

SEGA's Binary Domain shows how increasing the enemies onscreen can vastly improve the pacing of the SP campaign. The movement speed of your character needs speeding up slightly too. And no useless weapons like in GoW 2 where the rifle had a shotgun sized spread of fire and about as useful as range as a wet blanket.

So yeah a faster paced game and I'd buy this to play online given Binary Domain's MP is dead and Vanquish doesn't have MP. No changes made to the gameplay and no buy since I might aswell just play my existing collection.

The trailer does suggest that it's faster than older Gears so fingers crossed.

Eh. I lost interest in Gears of War after 2. So chances are, I won't be getting the latest one. That's just me though.

nay, looks like a "cash-grab" to me. Besides, it looks exactly the same, just with somewhat better graphics (nothing spectacular though)
