When playing on a 4 player system with more than four people, there is an established rule for switching out. I'm sure you all know how this works, looser gives up the controller, winners stay in. In some rare cases it will be the bottom two or everyone but the winner who gives it up.

Someone came up with a new system. The winner or top players will give up the controllers and the losers stay in. Here's the way I see it.

The original method allows the winners to stay in because they earned the right to stay in.

The proposed one also seems valid because the losers have a chance to improve and gain more experience. the fact that the winner won is reward enough.

Do you think this is valid? If you could decide, which would you choose? I personally would like to stick with the old method but the new one has made a debatable point.

Winner out, they have won they need time for a cool down, drink a little and back seat game for the loosers,

both are good but if the winner was a 10 game straight loser then they should stay in, if they are a all time champion then yeah they should pass the torch (er controler)

Hmm...both are valid. I guess it depends on the setting, really. With a bunch of strangers, definitely losers out. To do otherwise would require explanation and massive headaches. I could see winners out working for a group of friends, though.

In many of my experiences, a winner would stay in for far too long and get bored, as well as irk the losers. As of now, I'll start doing the Winner Out method.

Draw straws :)
Don't want one person dominating, but don't want to reward losers as no one will want to win.

Winner out, no question. It's about as fun as getting beat with a rake to sit there for twenty rounds because one dude happens to be much better than the rest and consistently wins.

@ VitalSigns & xxxhazyshadowxxx: What if there's one dude who's been sitting out for a long time because a winner happens to be good? I know if I were that guy I'd get pissed and/or bored.

Haven't heard this before, but I'm going to adopt it, as it is a good balance between "keep everyone in the game" and "let winners feel pride".

Usually the loser, because the winner becomes the alpha male of the video-game group and so no one is going to tell them to stop playing. Besides, they proved they're better than everyone else.

Sucks to be him, get better.

Obviously it gets passed if you have it too long.

once the winner is on a suitably long streak he should step down or risk looking like a prick.

loser must surrender, however.

When I play with friends, we usually play winner out.
I've never really heard of anyone else playing that way though.

This is actually a really good idea.

When ever me and my friends play, we do winner stays. As two of my friends don't own consoles, they almost always lose, and normally end up playing with someone's laptop. Winner out is okay, but I don't like rewarding failure.

Usually it's losers out, but if someone has a good streak they get the boot so that things get mixed up.

We play Winner Out. It was strange to me, at first. But eventually I realized it meant I got more play time. So I embrace the path of shame!
