Which out of the two do you prefer, and your reasoning for this along with what do you have plugged up in your PCI-express or AGP slot?

Also explain any bad experiences you've had.

I am using ATI at the moment, because the 4650 (1gb RAM) was cheaper than a comparable nVidia. But before now I was always an nVidia person

I voted ATI, even though I currently have an nVidia card. I've used ATI for years with no real complaints or issues, but I recently upgraded my machine after seeing an amazing special offer on an nVidia card. It was a limited time offer and it beat all the other prices by such a margin I thought there had to be a catch, but there was no catch and the card works well. Trouble is I'm now working my way through nVidia's infamous drivers in search of one that doesn't have any bugs.

Anyway, super special offers aside I would say ATI all the way. Read the internet, all the tech sites are currently saying the same thing: buy ATI, no ifs, no buts. Here's a recent article for you: http://www.yougamers.com/articles/26436_the_winter_2009_guide_to_gaming_pc_specs/

I don't have enough experience to really say I 'prefer' one, though I generally tend to edge towards Nvidia because nearly half my games are made for and tested on Nvidia graphics cards. The only ATI I had didn't work, though I don't hold that against them - it was probably my own fault for not handling it correctly.

I have a Nvidia GeForce 260M GTX. I find because of the large market share of Nvidia, games tend to be optimized for Nvidia.

I used to have an ATI Radeon 2100, and I while good. It had problems with a number of my games.

So, I switched to an Nvidia GeForce 9400 and it has been very good to me.

I've always had ATI card, not for any particular reason it just turned out that way. Now when I'm in the marked for a new card I tend to look at ATI cards first, since I'm used to their interface, but I'll still take an Nvidia if it's cheaper/better.

No.

I support good products, not merely the brands. I had an ATi X1900XT and I loved it. Then I had an nVidia 8800 GTX and I loved that. Now ATi has the best cards out and if I had to buy a card, I would buy theirs.
I agree with ya 100% man.

Strangely most posts are for ATI but the poll is heavily skewed towards nvidia. I've tried both brands through the years and I can't see myself buying an ATI card again. It's just all too often I see posts and patches relating to various graphical bugs or quirks similar to the last ati card I bought. I'm not a fan of their driver set either.

Apropos, are their any games out that use direct x 10.1?

Hardly any.

In the "Notes" column it says whether it's 10.1 or not.

I don't think I am qualified to answer this question.
I swear I see more posting for posting's sake on these forums than any other.
IRONY!

OT: I prefer Nvidia, although I'm using neither ATI nor Nvidia at the moment (a problem I plan to remedy).
