Hello, again, Escapists!

As you may or may not know, I am both a big fan of halo, and I have once again started dabbling in anime. This combo makes buying Halo: Legends sound like an excellent idea for Christmas. WITHOUT SPOILING ANYTHING, is Halo: Legends worth buying?

It's worth the $20 or whatever it costs for the DVD. It's not the sort of thing I'd watch more than once though.

Some of it is, and some of it isn't.

I personally loved Homecoming and Odd One Out. Most of the others where either "meh" or just dumb.

Spartans riding space motorcycles? No thanks. Not that I have anything against space motorcycles, they can be bad-ass in the right setting, but that setting isn't Halo.

Just watch homecoming on Youtube (as it's only 15 minutes long) and forget the rest.

Homecoming and Origins are definitely worth the view in my opinion. I wouldn't buy the whole lot though, and you probably won't need to see them more than once. Its your choice though, but I only recommend those two. Rent if you have to, otherwise, youtube is your friend.

No, I rented it with a friend, and we were bored throughout the ordeal. With the exception of a few of the clips that were somewhat cool.

The movie itself is pretty good, there was only one part that I didn't like in it, but all the others were fantastic!

Go for it!

I'm a huge fan of the Halo games and books, but personally, with a few exceptions, I thought it was a bit shit. I would not buy this unless its only £2 or so.

One of the characters in it is called Spartan Thirteen-Thirty-Seven. Think about it. And that particular one made no sense, but it had dragonball Z syndromes in it so I don't care.

I didn't buy Halo: Legends. The following is just the impression I get from looking at stills, the promotional trailer, and a short clip or two:

I don't have a vendetta against anime or anything, but the style just doesn't work for me in a setting like Halo. The series has a well-established visual style via the games, and it just looks off in anime form. It doesn't help that some of the sequences look like they stretch credibility to a ridiculous degree.

Also,
They made Dr. Halsey look like a young, 20-something blonde instead of being in her 50s with graying black hair. I know the anime style uses some artistic license, but you could at least TRY to portray her as she's supposed to look!

I liked it, thanks to having multiple companies it is pretty varied. Its a good mix of action, style, and even comedy and drama. I'd say buy it if your a fan of the franchise.

Seems like a bad place to start seeing as we all know he already hates the franchise with a passion.

Which is funny, because he recommends it as something to watch if you're at least curious about it.

I only found The Package and The Babysitter to be good. Although these suffer from the same problem of being massive fucking cliches that the rest do, at least they're fun. Origins is just a history lesson with a narrative, Odd One Out is utter garbage for the Dragonball crowd, Homecomings is trying far too hard to be dramatic and the best part of it is the animation, Prototype is just for mecha fans, and The Duel is cliche king but fans will hold up the distinctive art style (read: pretty at first but gets old fast) to say it's the best thing evar.

Rent it or Youtube it.
