I wonder if the majority of gamers are right or left handed (obviously right, but I mean is there a greater ratio than there is of the normal population). Additionally, do you keep your mouse on the left or right side of the keyboard? I am left-handed, and I hate using the mouse on the right side of the keyboard.

Just check whichever option applies to you during your gaming.

I'm sorry but how would I use a mouse on the left side of the computer with my right hand? the only thing I can think of is by looking at the computer from behind (which would still be my right) or using the wrong hand/stretching my arms.

however my mouse is usually in my right hand since I game on my laptop on my couch and isn't connected to my computer physically. plus WASD is much easier to use than the arrows on my laptop.

By reaching over, it's one of those things that looks really uncomfortable but actually is quite good.

So yeah, I'm ambidextrous but always have the mouse on the right and set to right handed, with some reaching across if I feel like it. If I'm using my right hand for mouse then numpad goes on the left, if I'm mousing with left hand it goes on the right.

I'm not sure what I count as - I write with my left hand, which I usually take to mean I'm left handed, but then when it comes to computers I have the mouse on the right and use my right hand for it. I'm pretty much ambidextrous with the mouse, but I can't actually write with my right hand.

The one I picked was "Left-handed, mouse on right".

Actually, I meant that you use the mouse with your left hand.

By 'left'- 'right'-handed, I mean what hand you write with.

I'm ambidextrous, 'hand you write with' means nothing to me.

I use my mouse with both hands, I just don't change where the mouse is depending on what hand I'm using. I guess preferentially I'd use my right hand, but it really depends on how I'm feeling at the time.

Which is why you can select "ambidextrous, no preference". =)

I am ambidextrous (own both left and right handed versions of the Razer Deathadder) and also have a tendency to suffer from repetitive motion BS. I'll be using, at any given moment, the mouse on the side that hurts the least. Part of the issue probably originated from overuse of trackball mice to the point where I have lost a lot of feeling in my right thumb.

Mostly right handed and during gaming I always have the mouse on right. I find it just as hard to use a keyboard with only my right as I do to write with my left. And I can't write with my left. I can use the mouse with either hand though, so if I'm researching and writing a paper I move the mouse to the left so I can write with my right at the same time.

When I was first using a computer, it was a shared family one so I had to learn to use it right handed (I'm the only leftie in my family).
Now, I couldn't even imagine using it left-handed, which is funny, because I'm terrible with everything else using my right hand, I cant even write my name.

Right hander... and I use my mouse with my right hand... but it's set to being left-handed.

Gaming-wise, left-handed mouse settings using my right hand, but everything else, I'm ambidextrous (and unsurprisingly enough, if I use a mouse in my left hand, it should have right-handed settings...)

left handed and mouse on right.
most mice are molded to fit in the right hand (like the one I,m using now) and I grew up using my right hand for the mouse I also hate the "lefty flip".

Left-handed, mouse on right. I don't find the whole QWERTY, mouse on right setup to be a problem.

Aren't most mice designed with right handed users in mind? Do you lefties find non specific mice or something?

Pretty much.

I have a mouse on both sides of the keyboard. I know, your mind = blown now, right?

Although, if the RSI in my right wrist gets much worse I may have to start gaming lefty style... I tried that once. The results were not pretty. Worse than when I switched to a trackball on the right.

I'm right handed and still buy "non-handed" mice. Keyboards and mice that try too hard to be ergonomic always feel awkward and uncomfortable to me. It's served me well on a couple occasions when I've hurt my right hand/wrist and had to use the mouse with my left hand for a week or two at a time.

I'm a lefty, but I use the mouse with my right hand.

*shrug* That's just where the mouse has always been. Besides, so many games have a WASD layout that makes more sense (or is more convenient) than an arrow-key setup.

I'm righthanded, and in the rare moments I actually play any PC games, I have the mouse positioned above the keyboard. My elbow essentially bends around the keyboard.

I'm with the majority here with right handed and right side of keyboard. Unless I'm using my netbook, as I am now.
