I recently found out that one of my posts resulted in someone posting a personal attack that got them banned (I didn't report them as I enjoyed the argument). Has this ever happened to you?

Edit: Here is the post for those who are curious:

You really are bloody stupid, aren't you? I mean, seriously? You don't list how Muslims are bothering you, you categorise all muslims as Quaranic literalists (Which is as valid an argument that all Christians are Biblical literalists, and thus equally retarded), an argument I can disprove because I have one Muslim friend who is not, and thus your argument disintergrates. I have also made several extremely rude jokes with Muslim acquaitances about them being

Also, you have no notion of history. Seriously.

Wars started by Christians:

11 Crusades.
The 30 Years War
The Hundred Years War
The War of Italian Succession
The First World War
The Boer War
Norman Conquest of Sicily
Norman Conquest of Britain
Byzantine-Norman Wars
"Drang Nach Osten"

That is one fuck-load of wars.

In short, get the hell back into high school and off my damn forum.

Not here. I took some argument bait on another forum from a particularly irritating user that no-one could really put up with for much longer. That was the last argument he had with that account.

No, because I don't get into many arguments, and if I do, I try to make sure that it doesn't boil down to personal attacks.

No, but it's only a matter of time it seems. People love to argue with me on here.

No. I've gotten a forum warning notice myself though, because of this post. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.188558-What-the-f-were-they-thinking?page=4#5813341

I found it to be unworthy of a forum warning notice, but hey, the Escapist isn't a democracy.

Not on here but it's happened on gamefaqs before. The guy sent me a hate-filled message over Xbox Live because of it.

Buddy unless he's your next door neighbor, I wouldn't be too worried. If you game online, you are bound to meet angry people. It's not a big deal.

On topic: nope. The Escapist shouldn't be tainted by stuff like that, so I try not to get people too worked up. If you are having an argument, focus on the argument, not the other guy.

Yes, on the Bioware forums. A guy was obviously trolling, so we made a fucking giant quote pyramid in the thread, while he still desperatly attempted to provoke us. We all got bans for doing it as well as him for his more ... agressive responses during "Operation Raptor-Laser", but the mods must have decided we had protected the interests of the forum because we were unbanned after a few days.

It was glorious.

Not on these forums, but it has happened several times in the past. I felt a little bad about it, but at the same time the other people were sorta asking for it.

Not on this board, which is a bit odd considering I seem to get into lengthy arguments at the drop of a hat.

Guess it's a compliment to the quality of my discussion partners. Or at least their ability to string a few sentences together without resorting to mindless flaming.

That, or the long posts scare away the mods.

Yes. I called some Marine an ITG for being unable to post in a forum without referring to "librel pussies" and suggested that he always brings up the fact that he's in the Marine Corps because he wants the admiration that the recruiter suckered him into believing that he'd get.

Of course, he flew off the handle at everyone and got banhammered. To this day, I've never seen the words "pussy" and "******" used so many times in a single thread.

You're the one that got Rolling Thunder banned?

He was right anyways, you had no idea what you were talking about and were completely wrong. How about you post what he was responding to as well, then we'll see if everyone else wouldn't have been furious with you as well.

Because I may have been a little misinformed, which I admitted to later. The content of my post was not what was important here.
I also did not get him banned, he got himself banned when he broke forum rules and a third party reported him.
