Poll: Have you ever engaged in casual sex?

Casual sex means any sex outside of a monogamous relationship: one-night stands, fuck buddies, friends with benefits, wife-swaping, swinging with your partner, etc.

I'm just curious how conservative/idealistic this forum is

I have not engaged in any type of sex, let alone that of a casual nature.

Regardless, I don't think I ever will engage in casual sex. It's a very close thing to me, one that requires a lot of trust and bonding beforehand (something I still haven't had, hence no sex yet either). You don't really get that in one date.

But no, I haven't. And I don't intend to. I'm the idealistic/conservative type you were talking about. Sex is supposed to be an intimate thing shared between two people who love each other... not some kind of recreation. When it's treated casually, it just gets real gross, real fast.

Really, it's not that hard if you lower your standards and take the girls you can get. Some of my friends do the online dating and easily hookup with 6-7 average/below average girls a semester. With me, I strongly prefer quality over quantity, so it's a lot lower, and I'm okay with that.

I only stick with committed relationships. I'm not against casual sex per se, as I don't have any strong objections. However, I just can't get excited unless it's somebody who I've gotten to know pretty well.
Again, I have no strong objections. Just not what I fancy.

No awkwardness... lol how did you manage that? I've done the friends with benefits thing with two girls I was friends first with in college, and in both cases things were different after. What happens is one party always cuts it off before the other wants it to be over, or someone develops feelings

Casual? Nah, I go for serious sex, preferably focusing all my attention on pleasing my lover. Although there has been a time or two that we got the giggles midway through.

Nudging back towards the topic, it's happened a couple of times that sex has happened without a relationship attached and only once that the parting afterwards wasn't on good terms.

I think this also depends on the country where you live (based on morals and value's of the people you're dealing with). Here in the Netherlands it's easier to get a pretty girl for just a night (I see my friends do it all the time. I stick to my girl.). However in another country it might be considered 'wrong' to have casual sex and there you'd have to lower your standerds and suches. But a true charmer shouldn't have much problems with it anywhere I think.

It's an interresting topic really, quality over quantity is a very valid point for alot of people, but some people just arn't ready to comit or settle down. Some people never settle down at all. And to the people who find relationships not working out so well, casual sex is just the fullfillment of needs and desires that the human body sometimes craves. It is a part of nature after all.

Yes sex is supposed to be intimate and shared between lovers, I whole heartily agree. There is, however, another side to the story. Sometimes it just feels good and people do it 'because it can'. And who says that during one night stands or any of the other named situations there can not be love or intimacy? I believe personally that sex itself is an act of intimacy, wether lustdriven or an act of commitment.

Then again, I was never that popular so I can't say much about personal experiences on the subject. Just voicing the voices inside. Erm.. I mean.. >.> Voicing my thoughts... Yess.s.....

I don't develop romantic feelings for people easily, but I like sex, so yeah. The way I see it, sex with someone I have feelings for is so different compared to casual sex that it almost becomes a different thing altogether. Sex with feeling is a tribute, sex without is just biology.

That being said, sex with someone you like, know and trust is better than casual. But until I get there I'll keep browsing.
