Poll: Have You Ever Gone Through The "Emo" Stage?

I use to spend alot of time with what could be classified as the "popular" group in early high school, and sooner or later almost all of the members went through the "emo" stage. To specify emo stage, this is when almost everything seems horrible and you feel the need to complain almost constantly about how horrible your life is, usually to get attention from those around you. Alot of people choose the cut themselves during this stage, as it was (and perhaps still is) the fad of the time. Talking with an old friend of mine, he finds himself in a weird position in which he carved the word "HATE" into his forearm, and it is now scarred there regardless of the fact he doesn't cut himself and is a rather positive guy. Several of my other friends, and myself included, have smaller scars on different places of our bodies from where we use to cut, and we all regret doing it and feel like tards for having such scars.

The question I'm asking is how many people have gone through this "emo" stage, and have you done something horrible during that time that you regret amazingly to this day?

I sorta did, when I bitched and whined and complained to no end, mainly in 9th and 10th grade. Never cut myself though. Only thing I regret is whinging on about the stupidest, pettiest things.

I went through a phase of pretending to like System of a Down and Green Day, but that's as bad as it got.

I just listened to Gothic Rock and Power Metal.

I kept the power metal & the awesome haircut, though.

I don't mean to overreact, but did you just imply that system is emo music? Cause them's would be fighting words!

Me as an emo would be the funny. I'd be like hanging out with my emo buddies and I'd get out of cutting myself to go fold laundry.

I used to be a self-mutilator with severe depression issues, but I always kept to myself, and never tried to garner sympathy from others.

I was the antithesis of an emo kid: I had problems and didn't whine, as opposed to having no problems and whining anyway.

Nope, and I can stand the emo's in my school either. A couple of them smoke (and stink), and one of them basically quotes Family Guy with everything he says, and claims to have no feeling in one of his arms...

No, I'm saying that emo poserfags like to think that SOAD is the jesus of musics, because it has "political messages". I liked them, because they were talented musicians.

Edit: Although, I am quite into the "Your music sucks for x reasons" debates.

Thank you for clarifying that. I just get a bit overprotective of System/Serj once and a while because it's the only popular music I actually enjoy.

P.S I really hate emo's.

I am not an emo and dont care for the whole cutting thing but what the fuck gives you the right to tell people what to be? And more specifically what length their hair should be? Seiously, didnt you learn anything from Columbine? If someone feels rejected and alone (regardless of wether they actually are) then you DONT push them until they break because then they are going to kill people, people like you.
Also, your avatar annoyed me too.

I strongly agree with this. As much as I loved SOAD, the majority of the fans I've had to deal with were phenomenal idiots.

You know, the kind that would rather run out and buy a SOAD t-shirt after listening to half of Mesmerize instead of dropping that fifteen dollars on one of their good albums.

I'm 16, still not a whiny little *****! What do I have to complain about? I have a home to live in, a odd, but fun family and an Xbox, life is great!
