Hi everyone,
As someone who has been playing card games for the last +-12 years with games such as MTG, Pokemon, Yu-Gi Oh, Duel Masters and many others under my belt I've decided to give Hearthstone another shot after quickly stopping playing after I got my beta key. I just wasn't interested in the game at that point.
I'll not say anything as I don't want to make this bias from the start, but what do you think of the game? Probably the biggest criticism right now (other than ''some class OP'' which you find in every card game known to man) is probably the pricing + PTW.
What do you think? Is it PTW? Are the prices fair? I'd love to get some unbiased useful feedback, so please don't just say ''the game suxx''. I'm wondering if it's worth playing, thats about it.
Thanks! :)

No moreso than any other card game of this sort in existence, after all with magic you're not exactly going to have the best deck in the universe if all you bought was a starter pack. You're expected to buy card packs, cross your fingers, and wish yourself luck in getting all the cards you need for the deck you want.

Heck, with Hearthstone there isn't even that initial hurdle of having to buy a starter pack, nor do you even have to buy anything else since everything is available via in-game currency so long as you're patient.

It's actually a fairly common challenge to build the cheapest deck possible in Hearthstone and see how far you can get with many of the games most popular streamers. The answer? Yeah, it's totally possible to get to the legend ranking with a deck that can be built within a few hours playtime. Not going to be easy, some of those lengendary cards can be damned hard to overcome, but it's totally doable.

So no, Hearthstone isn't pay to win. I'd say it's even less pay to win than MTG or Pokemon are since unlike those two games, you can play and win at Hearthstone without any cost whatsoever.

I've spent about 10$ on Hearthstone since it was released and have been having fun with it, so pricing seems fair enough for me. Good value that!

I've spent no money on Hearthstone so far. I've hit rank 20 in ranked, have beaten the first two bosses on the Naxxramas set, and have an Archmage Antonidas, so you know my mage deck is mostly set. So ultimately, I'd say no. I'd say it's less Pay to Win than any other CCG, simply because you can earn all of your cards in game simply from a time sink. And even then, I'd say that the pricing model isn't unfair. You can spend maybe an hour or so playing Hearthstone a day and within two days earn a pack, or three hit the arena, where you can go infinite. And all of this you do for free. Now, if you spend money, the most you'll spend on a pack would be 1.50, which isn't that terrible of a deal. And you could get shitty cards from this, and get amazing cards from the ones you bought with gold. The game works well enough that you can play for free completely with no complications, but you can pay for it if you want to.
