Hail to the fellow Escapists,
I am planning to get a console after 20 years of PC gaming. Not that I am bored of it, I still play Civilization regularly, install thousands of mods to Fallout NV and enjoy a FPS every now and then. I just want to experience different types of gaming; third person action games are not that fun on PC (darksiders is a good example), JRPGs are non existant (Breath of Fire 4 was the last one I can remember) and playing with friends when they come over is kinda hard on a 26" monitor. I still have a really good gaming computer (and will have in the future as I use it for my work)
Probably it is clear already what I am looking in my console so I will list pros and cons of each system for me.
XBOX 360 + Kinect
+Kinect : I love music & dancing and I think devs will find great ways to use this little toy. Also exercise games will be a plus. Learning to play this way won't be more difficult than learning to use a controller because both of them are new to me. PS Move is completely pointless for me.
-XBOX Live Tax: I am not an online gamer so I will get the Silver one. However I might wanna have a match on street fighter every now and then and can't do it unless I get the PS3.
-Large TV: For Kinect I have to get a large screen TV. With PS3 I can just use my full HD monitor.
+-Windows 8: If Windows 8 will be able to run XBOX 360 games then there is no point in buying the console. On the other hand, having full Kinect support on my PC might be pretty sweet.
PS3
+More exclusive games: Pretty obvious I suppose (Infamous + Heavy Rain vs. Alan Wake). Most of XBOX 360 exclusive games show up on PC after a couple of years anyways.
-PSN: We all know about the huge mess right?
I am asking this because I really don't know much about consoles (please don't hesitate to correct any of my mistakes/assumptions). I don't care about the FPS, Western RPG, MMO and Strategy performance of these consoles so no need to remind me how Halo, Resistance, Mass Effect etc. are awesome.
Thanks
PS: It is a Manowar reference not Hitler.
