Hey guys, I just installed Homefront for the first time right after I had breakfast. This kinda excited me, coz I was a big fan of Red Dawn and I'm currently waiting in anticipation for the reboot, so I kinda wanted to see what John Milius had in store for us gamers with Homefront.

Sad to say, I breezed through the whole campaign before lunchtime. Turns out the entire single player campaign can be finished in the span of 3 hours and 15 minutes. I mean, the story was alright though, but I've watched movies with good stories and they're longer than this game.

Which takes us to the question at hand: do you guys think that the single player campaign's too short? I mean I love the multiplayer, but I like to believe that they skimped a bit on the length of the game. So I'd love to hear your feedback my fellow Escapists.

It is clearly and undeniably too short. I'm not a particularly good FPS player but even I breezed through in under 5 hours and I'll repeat what i've said elsewhere - Why would they rope in a famous author to pen a story which they barely explore? I mean come on the entire plot can be summed up, without omitting anything, as "Post invasion America, You've been found to complete a mission, Complete the mission, Credits roll" There aren't any twists, no time for character development and no time for any investment.

The sequel, which is apparently going to be set in London, needs to be better. Much better.
There's going to be a sequel? Oh GOD...

This isn't really news. The Escapist had an article [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/108337-Homefront-Has-a-5-Hour-Campaign-Sort-of] on this awhile back.

Personally, I always check articles like the one linked by MercurySteam for an estimated duration. Homefront is worth about ten quid on a second hand shelf in six months time and a raised middle finger to the publishers, just like every other FPS out at the moment.

Sure, it's terribly short...
But who cares!? It has multiplayer yaaaay! thats why we buy more poorly delivered games about some kind of war because we get to shoot at other people from windows yaaay!
As if owning Red Faction, CoDMW 1, 2, Ops , Team Fortress, Halo, Quake, CS Battlefield, Red Dead Redemption, L4D, ect ect Wasnt enough... We get another one!!

There's going to be a sequel IN LONDON? how the heck is that going to work? After all, Britain hasn't been successfully invaded in a millenia, and we aren't as patriotic and gung-ho as the Americans, heck, if they promise to give Scotland and Wales home rule they'd fight for Korea! At the very least I hope they either get people from London to do the game or have a thorough localisation team. Hollywoods idea of a sterotypical London family would be the last thing the game needed. But at the end of the day I didn't buy Homefront and I won't buy the sequel.

Sigh, remember when singleplayer campaigns were at least 10 hours long

While I agree that a strong multiplayer component of an FPS is great 'n all, and I really don't mean to widdle on your chips with this but I feel it's still not a great substitute for a too short single player campaign.

True it can be lengthened slightly by upping the difficulty and having to take more time to get through some hair raising bits but that's not really adding much more to it.
I guess I'm just an old salt that prefers to casually dip into a lengthy single player/co-op story campaign, to get involved in a story in any shape or form rather than duke it out with people online; which is still fun but...I miss the objective and the narrative when in multiplayer

On topic though, I liked the premise of warfare in games being brought into urban civilian territory like this but if it's really short then that's a bit of a pisser really i.e stopped short before it properly gets going
