I have decided to write a paper on the demographics of video game consoles in college for my WRT-204 class. So please answer the above poll truthfully so that I can accurately describe what the current trend is amongst gamers in college.

Please mark which console you have AT COLLEGE WITH YOU then place a comment below explaining why you chose that console. What influenced your choices? Were you swayed by software, online capabilities, roommate situation? Leave any additional comments you feel necessary.

If you have more than one console at college then please pick the one you play the most.

Obviously this is for college students only. Please do not vote if you do not currently attend a institute of higher learning.

EDITED with new stats at the bottom.

Despite my not being in college, I think I can still post because my sister is.

She has a PS2 with her in college because it was technically a gift to both of us a long time ago and she decided that she wanted to be somewhat of a gamer now, so she took it off with her. It makes me sad that I can't play the fun games that I want on it anymore...

Hurrah! I'm a part of the learning process!

360, since we don't own a PS3, and my brother and parents have both the Wiis.

PS3 and PC.
Went for PS3 over X360 because with this setup I can get access to the largest number of games I want (meaning that I don't want any Wii games).
And Valkyria Chronicles, basically.

Well I put 360, because that tends to get most of my attention. But in actuality, I have a 360, PS2, Wii, DS, and PSP here. Not counting my Macbook, which has Windows on it so I can play games. What influenced my decision? I love games and couldn't stand to leave any of it behind while I spent four years of my life preparing to actually start living. Stupid college...

I have a PS3, an Xbox 360 Elite, and a PC.

The PS3: For it's technological firepower
The Xbox 360: For it's wide variety of games
PC: because I need to work at uni too.

Hope this helps, and good luck with your paper!

I use my PC the most, but own and play a 360, barely touch my Wii and just added a PS3 to the collection. I use the PC the most because it's in my room, so I can stay up late to use it, and of course the PC is superior to consoles.

The 360 is a close second, but that is because of the games I have for it, though online multiplayer is NOT a selling point. I prefer to be able to hit the person I'm playing with, and you can't do that on XBL.

We don't go and live at the college in a dorm setup, like you americans(?), but I'm living in a flat, with a friend of mine, who's also in college. We've both got PC's, as we're both ye olde schoole PC gamers.

I'm a non-traditional (read: older than feudalism and fucked it up when I tried right after high school) student. Second-year accounting major. And I am 100% PC gamer.

You clearly didn't anticipate that people could own more than one so I think you should have asked "which one would you bring if you could only bring one." I own a 360, xbox original, PS2 (can't read damn memory cards anymore though but still works fine otherwise), PS3, and a laptop that I do have some games for. I had a PSP but sold it due to lack of games it was getting long ago, about a year or two after it came out. Had a DS as well but sold it too because I rather focus on my consoles. Although I'm attending college, I live at home because my college is only a 10-15min drive. If I had to pick one, I'd pick my 360 because it has more games I enjoy as well as more multiplayer (on one screen at least) than the others since I love splitscreen with friends (what happened to 4 player splitscreen multipler and at least 2 player co-op... besides Halo). Well my 360 also has at least 70% of my game collection of about 60+ total.

this. i have all of them at my college (we have apartment suite style dorms) so i have my own room with all of it in there

but i tend to use the 360 also the most, co op for gears of war with a friend or roommate and i got mass effect 2 and dragons age on there also, so its some good fun, although i just got ffxiii for ps3 so that has been consuming alot of time too

I'm a 5th year undergrad.

I play my 360 the most, for a variety of reasons.

It was the first next-generation console I bought(I went to get a Wii, and couldn't, so I didn't want to go home empty-handed :) ).

The exclusives fit me to a T. At the time of buying my 360, there were many more 360 exclusives that interested me(Dead Rising, Prey, etc) than the PS3(Folklore was literally the only one). When I mean exclusives, I refer more to the lower-tier exclusives rather than the console-selling exclusives.

All of my other friends have 360s with Live, only 2 have a PS3. It is a lot easier to keep in contact on Live, and "play together", than to hop on with 1 friend on the PS3.

The Wii has no lasting appeal for me. I've played almost all of its top games, and few held my interest for more than a day.

I just recently got a PC that is capable of playing next-gen titles, but I will still continue to play my 360 because of the community aspect and the fact that I feel more comfortable with a controller than using a mouse and keyboard.

Well, I'll be attending university next year (already been accepted to my first choice) and I'll be taking my PS3 with me that I got for Christmas. Not sure if this counts, so I won't vote. ;p But it's basically because my brother owns our XBox that he'll be taking, and the PS3 has all my favourite exclusives (Uncharted, Team Ico, Heavy Rain, etc.) and all the good multiplatform games (Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, etc.) as well. Plus, I won't have to worry about paying for online with university fees, and I'll have a built-in Blu-ray player.

Seems to make the most sense, actually. I'd imagine most students wouldn't even have room for a Wii or a Fit board in those cramped rooms.
