The situation is simple, i am refusing to buy any games my friend recommends for a while as the last few i have bought have been a massive disappointment to me (Deus Ex HR, RDR). So Dead Island came out in the UK yesterday, he tells me i have to rush to buy it but following the 4 hours of DX:HR I have played since I bought it I have decided to hold off until I can find it cheaper. The thing is that even though the games I mentioned above have got stellar reviews I cant get into them to the same extent that he can.
Tonight the Dead Island debate got fairly heated with me arguing that DX:HR has shown me that I just dont like open world games that much and would probably only be buying it for the CO-OP which I doubt I will get £40 worth of play out of if I dont enjoy it. Eventually the argument ended with him telling me im retarded for not liking the games despite the awesome reviews. Im sure Dead Island is probably a fantastic idea but it is not my cup of tea and I cant seem to explain that to my friend without getting laughed at for trying to be "indie" because i have disliked every AAA title he has suggested.
Anyone had this happen and got a happy resolution or am I doomed to constantly over-exaggerated arguments over games I couldn't care less about.
