So, it is likely that many here are virgins and many are not. The question isn't whether or not you ever had sex but rather how do you view someone who is a virgin? The type of person isn't in question because they are how you would image a virgin to be, whatever that might be. This thread is not meant to bash on virgins (I am one myself) but is analyze people's perspectives on sex.

To make this a little easier, I've included a poll.

I view them as someone who has not had sex. Their reason is their own, I'm not going to judge them one way or another.

People being virgins only touches a small part of them. Only an asshole would just someone only based on them being a virgin

Virgin by choice or nerds? Theres a big difference between the two.
The former? Good for them but they don't know what they're missing.
The latter? I pity you. (and they still don't know what they're missing).

It completely depends on the age of the person. Just the fact that they are a virgin alone doesn't really tell much about them.

It depends on why they're a virgin. I find the whole abstaining until marriage or even treating virginity as something special to be extremely pretentious.
"It is the infantile superstition of man that virginity be seen a virtue rather than the barrier separating ignorance from knowledge" - François-Marie Arouet
For the sake of argument I've tried to refute that, but I can't think of a single thing that makes willed ignorance virtuous.

I don't judge people based on whether they had sex or not. I judge them based on their character. The idea of judging someone based on whether or not they lost their virginity sounds silly to me.

What? As if that's the defining characteristic of a person...?

I'd ignore whether or not their a virgin and judge them on whether or not they are friendly or an asshole.

Depends on the gender as well. Female virgins are alluring, (seriously we havent had generations of sacrificing virgins portrayed in various media for nothing amirite?) for males, I think Cleveland Brown said, Virginity is a curse that must be cast off as soon as possible.

Theres technically nothing wrong with it. The problem is for men it is seen as a passage into manhood milestone, which is understandable given how tied to sex men basically are. But as bad as that might be, its entirely possible given the right circumstances that it might not be a big thing. Consider a place like China where the male to female ratio is approaching 6:1 I would say they wouldnt look so harshly on male virgins.

There are all kinds of reasons somone hasnt had sex it dosnt really affect you as a person

the Idea of the "virgin" is completley outdated anyway Virginity is not somthing special or "a gift" (note how those two Only really apply if your a woman....double standard)

Depends on the reason.
Religion? Good for you. If you want to wait, go for it

Fear (STD?s, Pregnancy, ect)?: You may be a bit overly cautious, but again, I respect what you choose

Disinterest?: I can relate. I fall into this category

Honestly, feel like sex isn?t everything, and the amount it is hyped up to be can never live up to those standards. Besides, I have never found a member of the oppisite sex I can really trust, nor do I want to.

As people to sacrifice to me I try not to apply the socially constructed notions of virginity to people and judge them outside of those contexts. Still virginity could point to a character trait that is important.

Just because society glamorizes sex doesn't mean that I have to as well. In my opinion, it's definitely not acceptable to judge anyone based on their sexual history (or lack thereof). Personally, I don't view "virgins" any differently than I view anyone else.
