If you had to give a ballpark estimate, how many people did you kill in all the games you played. Mine would probably be around 4,000,000 because I play a lot of shooters but I don't play too many RTS games(the genre that would probably rack up the highest amount of kills).

I'm going to say 100,000 - 1,000,000, unless we're counting Total War games, in which case I have probably killed the entire planet two times over.

This makes me glad I never picked up Defcon, even if I'm probably very easily in the 100M+ bracket already...

Do non-human entities or robots count as people? Does it count as killing if undead or, again, robots are involved? And is it killing as long as you merely order your troops and don't lift a finger yourself? So many questions..

At any rate, my estimation is 'a lot'.

I guessing 10,000,000-100,000,000. I guess I should be thankful that I haven't play any FPS for a while? Last time I played it was Halo Reach when my bro brought it over for Xmas years ago.

Ha I know for sure my death toll will be alot higher if this thread was about living things/ creature than people!

Pfft, Galactic Civilisations 2 and Sins of a solar empire are two games I've played heavily.

And the largest option I have in the poll is *one* billion?

hmm....
Well, how many pixelated entities have I destroyed??

Sheesh, in all honesty, adding up all those I've killed in Strategy games AND EVERYTHING else?

I'd say over a billion.

Now, by people, do you mean humans only? Humanoids only? Living beings only? Do robots, the undead, aliens, insects, random monstrosities, various animals, and any combination thereof count?

If only humans count, then easily in the 100,000,000 bracket. If some of the other categories count, then either 100,000,000-1,000,000,000 or over 1 billion. I have played many, many video games over the past 2 decades, slaughtered my way through countless hordes, ground my way through several MMO's, and committed acts so heinous, even Hitler would say "Dude, not cool".

My favorite genre of video game is RPG, both Eastern and Western varieties. The slaughter of tens of thousands is but a stepping stone towards victory.

Well, let's see.

Oblivion and Skyrim have me clocked at around 500 kills each, so that's 1000 right there. On Uncharted 2 multiplayer it says I've killed 1008 players, not including the actual game or AI. I'll hazard a guess at around 5000 from them, so now we're roughly at 7000. That's only three games so far.

Games that don't feature a lot of enemies would only have around 700 or less, so that's my 4 TR games. Games like Mirror's Edge would have less than 100. Non-violent games obviously have none, including games like Deus Ex: HR where I actively chose not to kill. I have only 2 war FPSs, so that's around 7000 perhaps.

It's looking quite extensive when you put it together like that, but in reality it's only really sitting in the 10,000 to 100,000 region. So not as terrible as it might seem.

Captcha: Tuckered out.

After all that maths and murder? You bet.

Civilization V.
I nuke cities. It's over billions in all the games of that I've played, easily. (assuming populations of cities are taken as the realistic values from the demographics part rather than citizens)
>_>

Discounting Civ though, I'd probably have somewhere over 100,000 from RTSes, hours of CoD, MMOs etc.

I've played many space game. Galactic Civilizations II for example. Not to mention Civilization.

It's almost sobering to try to remember.

Does indirect actions count? I may have committed genocide (by accident mind you!) in several RPG's.

Does this count board/card games? Because if so, I'm definitely in the 10,000,000-100,000,000 bracket. The game Nuclear War involves using nukes to kill 10,000,000 at once. Good times.

People honestly tend to inflate their kill numbers to more than they have without actually knowing it.

if I had to pick one game when I caused the most death, it would probably be Just Cause 2. I hold a kill count of about 10k-15k. I'm probably in a total range of 35,000 across all games.

Lots.
About 15 years of gaming with lots and lots of games with killing in, ranging from small fights to nuking cities adds up.
Also I tend to play a lot of horde/survival mode stuff so that'll factor in.

The question then being: battles only? Or sacking cities as well?

A few planets worth if the former... fuck only knows if the latter. Good lord, I (like probably the entire TW usergroup) have most definitely lost count of how many times Europe has been conquered and how many have died to see it happen. I've lost count of how many times I've laid siege to Rome, and all!

In FPS's & RPG's though... depends on species. If humans only, probably a few tens of thousands... *shrug*

Oh, and non-TW strategy games bring a whole load more as well (Dawn of War in particular). -_-

I played Defcon. I've snuffed out billions of lives in flashes of thermonuclear light leaving nothing but burning craters.

Also, I killed 29 creatures in my most recent playthrough of Cataclysm the Roguelike. a bunch of zombies and packs of wolves. I then ate the wolves.

I've played Galactic Civilizations 2 many times, where I have blown up several solar systems. My kill counter is most likely in the trillions.
