After reading the latest VGCats comic, it got me thinking, so I have some questions for you all.
1. Do you own a TV?
2. Which do you spend more time using/watching. TV or Computer?
3. How much do you use each per day?
4. Where do you get most of your news from?

As for me, I just moved to a college dorm, and didn't have a tv until recently, because I didn't have the hook-ups to connect my ps3 to my computer monitor, and it was cheaper and faster to just get a tv. Due to the poor setup of the room, I can't be bothered to plug in the cable cord so I don't use my tv for anything but my ps3.
I generally spend more time on the computer than on my tv/ps3.
I usually spend every waking moment that I am not in classes on my computer (my only friend is my roommate and my suite-mate whom I share a bathroom with)
I don't really keep up with the news much, but I usually get it off my phone.
*Bonus question! Do you think TV will soon be phased out, and if so, how long do you think TV will remain relevant?

[sub]we got the tv off of craigslist. It is a 30" HD CRT tv and it was HUGE and a pain to get up stairs[/sub]

1. Do you own a TV?
Yep. Our household has multiple.
2. Which do you spend more time using/watching. TV or Computer?Computer, but there's a relatively good chance that it'll be on in the background while I'm on the computer.
3. How much do you use each per day?
Computer: Many hours. TV, sometimes none, sometimes many. It depends on how many sports are on, and which sports they are. Or if I decide to watch a movie on the TV or on my computer.
4. Where do you get most of your news from?
The newspaper!
*Bonus question! Do you think TV will soon be phased out, and if so, how long do you think TV will remain relevant?
Nope. It'll be around for a long time. We don't have 500 channels for nothing!

1. Do you own a TV?
We currently have five TVs in the house, and considering two more in the future.
2. Which do you spend more time using/watching. TV or Computer?
Definitely the computer.
3. How much do you use each per day?
I probably use the computer for about 6 hours a day. More on some, less on others obviously.
4. Where do you get most of your news from?
The internet.
*Bonus question! Do you think TV will soon be phased out, and if so, how long do you think TV will remain relevant?
I think cable companies will definitely have to come up with a better business model soon. Our cable company wants to charge us $7 a month per TV for a box to make the service we're already paying for work. It's ridiculous.

Since I've gotten access to a friends Netflix account (and my room's TV has been bricked by Cabelvision) I haven't watched TV much at all.

1. Do you own a TV?
We have one T.V. in our house.
2. Which do you spend more time using/watching. TV or Computer?
Computer.
3. How much do you use each per day?
I use my TV on a weekly basis. I use my computer for up to 2 hours a day.
4. Where do you get most of your news from?
The internet, the local paper, the radio and word of mouth. I really can't narrow it down to 'most' because it depends on the mood I'm in.

I've stopped watching the T.V. on a regular basis this year because using my laptop is much easier.

Being a forum full of gamers, I highly doubt you're going to find someone here who doesn't own a TV. So yes, obviously I have one but I almost never use it for anything aside from gaming. I channel surf maybe once a year on average. Yes, you read that right. I have to be really, really, really, REALLY bored before I will even consider doing it, and I only get that bored when I'm extremely sick and can't get out of bed. And since I don't get that sick very often...well, yeah.

But that's not to say I don't watch any shows. It's just that they're all available online, for free, anytime I want. Why tune in at a set time (without a pause feature no less)to catch a show when I can just type a few words into Google and have exactly what I want within seconds? And of course Netflix greatly helps, though for the most part it isn't very good for keeping up with current television.

Ha, that sounds about right. I watch like three TV programs total, and those are all online immediately after broadcast; HIGNFY, QI and The Thick Of It. I never actually sit and watch a TV. Sometimes if I'm cooking I'll put the TV on in the background, just on News 24 or something.

Yes. An old CRT one. It's only hooked up to the SNES.

2. Which do you spend more time using/watching. TV or Computer?
Computer all the way. I watch some TV-shows on the internet (The government-run television channel has all of its in house shows readily available on their homepage.)
DeltaEdge said:
3. How much do you use each per day?
Anywhere from 4-16 hours, depending on what else I have to do that day. Very rarely less than 4 hours though.

1: Do you own a TV.

I do. A 32" Full HD LCD screen that I use for console gaming and watching shows/anime.

2. Which do you spend more time using/watching. TV or Computer?

Computer. I got cable on my TV but I rarely if ever turn it on. I just stream everything I want to watch from my PC to my PS3.

3. How much do you use each per day?

Purely depends on how much time I have. It can range from 0 to 8 with ease.

4. Where do you get most of your news from?

The internet, the 6 o'clock news during dinner and the radio when I wake up in the morning.

I love TV.
I cannot tell you how much I love TV... I'm extremely happy to sit on my sofa for an entire day and watch boxsets of TV shows I like.

I watched 5 seasons of Supernatural during my week off... the dog gets grumpy and I probably put on weight but TV... I love it. Crap TV, groundbreaking TV, reality TV - I'm a bloody coach potato!

To answer your questions:

1. Do you own a TV?

Yes. A big one.

2. Which do you spend more time using/watching. TV or Computer?

I watch a lot of TV programmes I cannot get on my TV... I'd say 50/50.

3. How much do you use each per day?

I use the computer too much - I'm on it for 8 hours at work and I use it until midnight when I am at home. Granted if I am not going out... I do have a social life. Really.

If I want to watch TV then I can spend the entire weekend (if I'm not going out and being social-- honestly I can!) or the time I have after work.

4. Where do you get most of your news from?

The ITV central and national news at 6.
Or my mobile phone - but the news is on when I get home so I cook dinner and watch it.

1. Do you own a TV?
I do, and it's all flat and a bunch of inches and everything!
2. Which do you spend more time using/watching. TV or Computer?
Computer, easily.
3. How much do you use each per day?
TV, perhaps 4-6 hours a week, so not much. PC... A lot. About 8 hours spent on work mostly with the computer, and at home thats primarily what I do!
4. Where do you get most of your news from?
The local news channel, they have a 30minute segment that I watch every day. The rest I get off the internet.
*Bonus question! Do you think TV will soon be phased out, and if so, how long do you think TV will remain relevant?
I don't see that happening any time soon... Even when it does, something will show up that brings it back into the publics eye again, I'm sure. Powerful people want the TV to continue to exist X3. TV channels? We may see a decline in that, there seems to be a pretty huge number of those at the moment, but people are getting more and more comfortable with just watching things whenever they want! I for example pay for a service that let me watch all of my local TV stations programs online. This service is about 7 USD a month. And that TV station sends a lot of US and British TV too, so it's not just crappy Norwegian stuff I get to watch! I like having entire seasons ready to go like that =3.

There is also a government-funded and advertisement-free channel in Norway, and they put all of their stuff online for streaming for free, so that's neat too. Of course, I pay the TV lisence so I still technically pay for that... =3

2. Which do you spend more time using/watching. TV or Computer?

3. How much do you use each per day?

4. Where do you get most of your news from?
Computer, i nab a free newspaper from the bus if i'm ever on one.
*Bonus question! Do you think TV will soon be phased out, and if so, how long do you think TV will remain relevant?
not phased out but assimilated and become part of one big entertainment/knowledge interface. internet able TVs are proof of that.

1. Do you own a TV?

Yes, I own a Vizio 42" HDTV. I also have a few old tube TVs lying around. I only use them for my old consoles these days.

2. Which do you spend more time using/watching. TV or Computer?

My TV is my computer monitor, so equal, hahahahaha... ha. Okay, the real answer is the computer.

3. How much do you use each per day?

TV to do actual TV over-the-air, satellite or cable: 0 hours
Computer: I work in front of one all day and then sit at my personal one for a few hours a night. I've been playing basketball lately just to break up the overdose of computer. I need to spend less time on the computer, too much lately.

4. Where do you get most of your news from?

The internet or friends and family. I only watch TV news indirectly/incidentally.

*Bonus question! Do you think TV will soon be phased out, and if so, how long do you think TV will remain relevant?

5. I think it'll eventually move to the internet and they'll just release shows weekly on their respective websites. Or maybe they'll be smarter (smarter = more beneficial to me) and just release entire seasons at once so we can marathon them as long as we pay or watch ads for each one. As for when, not for a long time, I think. Over the air TV still has a huge advantage of being free entertainment (beyond buying the TV), so it's bound to grab some new fans, even from younger generations. Newly weds don't have moneyz! Quite a few people don't have the internet, but I'd wager most of them have some kind of TV and the ability to get over the air channels.

1. Yes, never use it to watch anything that airs here, though. I'll watch DVDs on it, and run the 360 through it. It's also shiny, so I can look at myself in it.
2. Computer, by far.
3. Family and friends say too much. They're wrong.
4. Internet. The TV news and papers available to me are atrocious. Bottom-tier journalism, overpowering bias, too many vested interests.

1. Do you own a TV?
Yes

2. Which do you spend more time using/watching. TV or Computer?
Computer.

3. How much do you use each per day?
Computer- 9+ hours depending if I'm working or not (I pretty much on the PC when I'm not in work while I have a few hours on the PC after I'm back from work).

TV- 0. I only use the TV to play Wii games or watching a DVD.

4. Where do you get most of your news from?
Computer

I would like to point out that I get no live channels on my TV in my room (don't have the cable) so I only use the tv to played games and watch dvds.

1. Do you own a TV?
Yes.

2. Which do you spend more time using/watching. TV or Computer?
I have the TV on most of the time but the PC monitor holds most of my attention.

3. How much do you use each per day?
The PC is running on average 12 - 14 hours a day. I'm not always there but I set it to download whilst I go off and do other things and, given the fact that my connection is arse, that can take days.

4. Where do you get most of your news from?
The internet tends to throw up the more mundane stuff and I find out the funnier or stranger ones by talking to friends.

When I do dedicate time to the TV it's usually either for a DVD or a console. 99% of TV programming that I watch is on internet services.
