I have a fifty buck allowance a week. With the wife in charge of the finances you'd think this would be a bad gig, but it essentially translates into a game a week, or multiple DVDs, or movies or what not. I buy a lot of games, DVDs, and comics, but I also don't have any kids. Thank the gods.

It varies. When I was younger, it was one a year. Now that I make my own money, it's usually two or three.

Too many. Way way wayyyyyyy too many.

Last year, from the end of October to the beginning of December, roughly 5 or 6 weeks, I bought -

Sega Rally Revo
The Witcher
Gears Of War
Crysis
Call Of Duty 4
Viva Pinata

all for PC. This isn't standard of course, I just went a little bit insane. And then had to buy Christmas presents. My bank account suffered a little, I must admit.

Recently, bemoaning the slow beginning to 2008 for pc gaming, I 'picked up' Shadowgrounds Survivors on digital download. Then Need For Speed Carbon in the bargain bucket. Then Puzzle Quest. Followed by Stranglehold on sale, Sins Of A Solar Empire digital download, and just last night AudioSurf through Steam.

Somebody help me. Please.

Too many.

I have a horrid habit of buying more games than I truly have the time to play. I then stick a moriatum on myself, forbidding me from buying any more until I finished the ones I've got, then go ahead and buy something anyway. Steam is bad, as are charity shops. In some way the small casual games are excusable, its easy to dip into a small amount of puzzle quest or audio-surf depending on the mood, but I have also got unplayed copies of Deus Ex, Morrowind (I didn't even like Oblivion) and Icewind Dale picked up for a pound from the charity shop across the road.

I'm about the same. Deus Ex, Baldur's Gates 1 and 2, Fallouts 1 and 2, Chronicles of Riddick, Vampire: The Masquerade, Freespace 2. It's terrible.
PS: To be fair, the last two won't install for some reason. I'm SURE those two would be played as well. :(

Last generation I would buy 1 or 2 games a month, but this generation it's more like 4 games a year. I have a personal collection going and 90% of the new stuff just doesn't do it for me. What I look for in a game is stuff that's hard for other games to copy. Because if it can be done better than why not wait for the better game.

A-list titles, 3 or less per year normally. Last year was unusual; not only did I get a new console, but a boat-load of critically-acclaimed titles in genres I like came out too. The year before I believe I bought only one title.

Arcade stuff, I've found lately, to be in the 4 or more per year group. I don't know if this will hold over the long term.

Okay, I really screwed up. I had meant to put in more options but I fucked up somehow and posted it. I'm gonna edit the poll and add in more options. Sorry about that. As for me, I usually get around 5-6 games. I have pretty high standards for games, so I usually don't buy a game unless I've played it and really liked it or have read very good reviews about it. Last year I got Wii Sports, Wii Play, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, and The Orange Box.

I do a lot of used game shopping, and I rarely buy new. I'd say last year I bought between 35 and 40. I've finished 3. OUCH!

I really just buy the games I really want and know I will play often. Although I still get about 1 or 2 a month.

LOL I've got Crysis, Call Of Duty 4, Stalker, Swat 4 (and its expansion), Morrowind (came with a sound card), Armed and Dangerous, and Prey that I can think of off-hand. Still dawdling around waiting to upgrade my PC to get the best out of Crysis and Call Of Duty 4. My wife has half a dozen or so she's not played yet, and buys more than I. Luckily, when you get old and the kids are gone, you have disposable income, but not time.

I picked up The Burning Crusade at the start of 2007, then on my holiday at the end of the year I picked up Crysis, Gears of War, Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars, COD4, The Orange Box and recently Conflict: Denied Ops.

I usually try to limit myself to 4-5 games a year for financial (Games here are usually $110 new release), but mostly because I don't want to buy a bad game. I'm one of those people who goes out researches which game they're going to buy next. I won't go and by a game on a whim, I'm just not that sort of person.
