I would like to apologize. To the casual readers of The Escapist. To the forum mods who put up with mountains of debate (i.e pointless pissing matches) every single day. Actually interesting topics, ones that relate to games, movies, tv etc. are being pushed under the radar by "Wurgggh I find this offensive", Whatever the "Worst thing in the world according to Tumblr" Is this week, and Sarkeesian.

Fucking Sarkeesian.

Everything else is worthy of debate. Everything else has a place, if not on these forums, then somewhere. But HER. Jesus Harold Christ. Every day, a new topic about how either she's the devil in disguise, or how she's the greatest genius of our generation or blah blah blargghhhhh. My opinion on her has been well documented throughout these forums. I've spoken at length about why I don't like her, but that's irrelevant. Whether you think she deserves to be thrown on a bonfire or given an award, there's one truth that's plain to see.

Yes, I'm totally aware of the irony of writing a big post about this. Pissing petrol into a burning toilet, so to speak. But I have to say it, and that's why I didn't put her name in the thread title. If you disagree, that's fine, just piss off and keep doing your thing. But as far as I'm concerned, we're giving too much attention to a woman who warrants very little. I owe it to myself to keep my mouth shut, I know I'm all too guilty of commenting on these threads (I think I did so just today, actually)

Maybe I'm imagining things. Maybe the rest of you just eat this shit up, and from what I've seen, I wouldn't be surprised. But I'm sick of clickbait. Sick of shouting and fucking bawling from both sides. I'm going to do my best to avoid these forums from now on, or at least the Most popular and most commented. If you're thinking of posting a reply about how awesome she is or how she needs to be destroyed immediately, good for you, now stop wasting my time.

Now I stop. This is the threshold and I'm letting go of clickbaity bullshit. I would like to apologize again to the mods, and to you, dear Escapist reader. You truly go above and beyond your station.

My friends complain about this all the time, and as much as I agree, nothing is accomplished saying it. You could try taking a tip from them and quit the internet (they just play gamecube and come back a few days later), alternatively you could not talk about it and get better at avoiding it.

Maybe one day we'll have lives that don't necessitate this forum stimulation, but I don't see that happening.

I'm serious, the only people who seem to make threads about her are the people who complain about her.

I exaggerated there, but make no mistake, there have been threads defending what she says, though few and far between. It doesn't matter anyway.

To your poll question, yes, but the best solution is to simply avoid contributing to them.

You have no reason to apologize to anyone if you still want it stopped. I could easily be seen as much of needing to apologize as you and I usually just go through those forums to just check what people are saying and occasionally respond if something really irks me. I'm still perfectly fine with the subjects presented to be talked about, but the frequency of these topics along with the polarizing names of them and the fact I usually see better threads be overshadowed by them, makes me vote yes. I'd like there to be a discussion on these subjects, but I more often see people not willing to listen at all, they can't move an inch from your original viewpoint or regard a criticism of their statements are valid on the internet, it just doesn't happen. The only people I have really regarded as internet heroes have always been people to recognize they were wrong, not continue to say that wrong thing they said, and continue on like being wrong isn't such a big deal as to stop arguing for everything else you believe.

I'll also be more honest, I wanted to make a thread about her, several times, heck, I still do. The topic would be along the lines of "What's the worst she can do?". These are just examples, not things I necessarily would put on the thread or believe myself: Ban games? Make games less violent/fun? Get in fights with those in the industry because she'll have weight around? Milk her hate for money for years to come? Has she already done enough by misrepresenting games/lying about her playing games/banning comments? Or is there literally no major harm she can do?

I still think it could be a good topic/poll if I didn't think there'd be so many arguments from previous threads on it and become as bad, if not worse, than the other threads on her.
