Just got Borderland and I'm going to whinge about compulsory online registration
I Miss Plug and Play
Bring the cartridge home stick it in the 64 and play.
I know the future is DLC, content that should be in there in the first place, the entire game or just the compulsory online registration.
Why should we be happy about this, why are we know happy to wait to play the games and how is it a positive for any one.

What does plug and play have to do with DLC? I mean...since when is registering the game part of DLC? It's not a big deal, it takes 10 seconds of your time and helps prevent piracy. Piracy wasn't a problem back in the cartridge days of gaming.

And sometimes it was plug, reset, blow on the metal strip a bit, put the cartridge in and out a couple of times, maybe swap it with a q-tip, blow a bit, hold the reset button, then hope you can play.

thats what I've always thought, when developers put out DLC thats all well and good, but no one thinks of the 13 year old kid who can't convince his parents to let him get Xbox Live or what have you. I only got it last year since I'm the one who now pays the phone and internet bill, and yet they still say I don't 'need' it,

true, but you also don't need an Iphone a regualar phone, can do but now I'm rambling. dlc is alright in my opinion, when it technically is not directly involved with the plot, the first fable 2 dlc is a good example, and dragon age as well,

but when I bought Gears of war on PC, I had to give it my email and such and register, same with BF:2142, there are going to be gamers that don't have these features and might not get them at all, and since when the FUCK does every publisher and developer think all players have access to obtain and play online or dlc, that kinda stuff, frakly pisses me off

phew

Not everyone has access to Xbox live, I will have to take my Xbox over to a friends before I can play the bloody thing. When you buy a game you have to wait a good hour while the patches and updates settle in, why can't they fix the bugs before they sell the game, it costs over a hundered dollars(yes aussies get ripped of).

You should have taken better care of your things.

I'm guessing you mean plug and play vs updates

Yes I'm going to say that updates can be very frustrating, I sit down and have 30 minutes to play something and PS3 has to update the console, then install it 10 minutes roll by (on verizion fios) then the game has to update and install another 15 minutes later. So I'm left with five minutes to play something if I hadn't switched to my PSP to play while waiting. I dunno what the deal is with PS3, I know you have to update to keep the consoles features up to date and the game with patches/fixes etc but it's 30 seconds on my 360 and 2 seconds on my PC.

I understand that the game has to get patches for errors, patches for upcoming DLC etc but it is a bit annoying.

Whatever though, my solution is proactive, while my PS3 updates, I turn on a system that never needs updating nor has EVER required service, my Sega Genesis. Actually come to think of it, I updated it with a Sega CD a while ago, but still that took less time than a PS3 install, ba-dum-tish.
