I have been put in the preverbial tugg of war by friends, forums, reviews, and so on. I have recently come into some money, and I have gotten the things I need but now I want to get a game system. I don't like portables, and wii is off limits I dislike this system its not my thing. So I have been put in the situation of Xbox 360 or PS3. I been put in the game war and I am all tapped out hearing fanboys say "PS3 Is Awesome" and "No Xbox 360 is Better" I am tired of it. Both systems are pretty decent I just want one, one thats durable, fun, has more than one thing to keep me entertained. Please Help!!!!

( I Like FPS and RPG's if this helps any)

Do you plan on playing FPS online with friends? If so go with the system they play on. Other than that each system has its ups and downs. The FPS games are mainly multi-platform. So the deciding factor should be the exclusive games. Do you like JRPGs or WRPGs? Most of the WRPGs are multi-platform once again, but I think the 360 has a slightly better library of exclusive JRPGs.

It is a tough decision, but I'd suggest deliberating based on which exclusives you find more appealing.

If you want great exclusives, go with PS3, if you want a more populated, yet shitty multiplayer scene go with a 360

Honestly I'd go with a PS3 if I had to choose again, I hate my 360 now.

Do you want to play online? Xbox 360 has shooters and...
and...
Halo and Gears of War for exclusives...
PS3 has lotsa RPGs (everything that xbox has, plus Japanese stuff), a bunch of exclusives and can play blu-ray. I'd go with the PS3.

OH, AND FREE ONLINE SERVICES.

PS£ has good exclusives, free online which admittedly isn't as good as XBox 360.
XBox has paid for online, but it's better, and also has a good set of games.

Well I am more into FPS games, and I am a Die Hard HALO fan but after bungie left microsoft and abandined there baby ( i.e. HALO ) I kind of lost feeling for halo 4. Call of duty is amazing and is cross platform. I enjoy RPGs like fable but its and xbox 360 exclusive. I dont have a job so it gonna be kind of hard to pay for live so again I am stuck in a dilema. Both have pros and cons and friends don't really help because most of my friends either have ps3 or xbox or both. SO I am gonna have fanboy friends who like xbox and ps3 and then theres nuetral friends so really theres no winning.

Ever consider PC gaming? If you can afford to build yourself a gaming computer for ~$600-800 or so it kicks the shit out of consoles.

If OP is concerned about a £40 per annum subscription fee to live then they're probably not going to be able to make that sort of up front investment.

OT: As an owner of both systems I'd say that I prefer playing FPS on the 360 for the better online crowd and controller, but it's a very personal decision. If you've got friends with either or both ask if you can go over and have a mess around for a few hours. Get a feeling for the consoles, maybe they'll have some of the exclusives too for you to try out. It doesn't take a massive amount of time to get a feel for which you prefer.

Xbox 360 Pro's and Cons:
P:Lots of online content.
P:Cross gaming chat.
P:Halo and Gears.
P:Cheaper console.
P:Better controller(PS3 one just seems awkward to me,sorry).
P:Fast Updating.

C:Red Ring, obvious.
C:pay for online, while I accept it, it still sucks when I don't have the money and can't play with friends.
C:Overheating.
C:Disk Tray can break.
C:Disk tray could scratch disks, not often but can happen.

PS3'S Pro's and Con's:
P:Cheap online.
P:Cheaper than 360 in the long run, wont have to repair or replace it as much.
P:Internet browsing.
P:Uncharted and Infamous and LBP.
P:Built in power supply.

C:Small controller.
C:Not as good online(my opinion)
C:Dearer as 360.
C:Security problems(for now)
C:Update times.

Up to you what you choose now. Took me 20 minutes to make this list, I am going to bed.
