(damn limit on poll options...)
Ok, in some games, you get monsters with elements. In some games, you even get people with elements. The question: what element do you think would suit you best? Maybe its related to weather you naturally like? (A fire element is at home in dry, warm conditions, while a water element is perfectly comfortable in even heavy rain or can at least bear it better than others.) Or it could be a measure of your personality. Fire elements tend to be associated with hot-headed, passionate people while a wind element favours freedom and is adventurous (Sonic is said to embody the wind in some sources)
I think, based on my preferred weather conditions, I'd probably be a water/ice hybrid. I'm fine in cold conditions when everyone else around me is either shivering or reaching for a jacket, like water and rain, and am extremely uncomfortable in dry heat. Add swimming, hill-walking and skiing to my list of favourite sports and you've got the ideal water candidate.
(Unfortunately, you can't get more than 8 options in a poll. By the way, I made these up on the spot, I wasn't actually thinking of pokemon at all though I realise I've followed most of their basic elements rather uncannily. The 8th option was going to be steel till I realised I needed that space for unlisted options. I've tried to list the most common elements found in games.)
Note: some philosophical trains of thought have theories about people and their corresponding elements. The old Chinese elements are fire, water, earth, wood and steel. (I corrected the error in my original post.) Zoroastarism had light and dark (political propaganda by the Sassanids portrayed the entire eastern Roman Empire as being controlled by the dark as opposed to their own culture being the nice guys, of course.) You can look it up on Wiki, my knowledge of Zoroastarism, including, most likely, the correct spelling, is very limited and possibly inaccurate.
EDIT: Coming back to this thread after a day, I'm amazed how many water elements there are. I expected fire to be popular, but waters popularity is surprising to say the least... guess more people like the rain than I thought.
