And kill Hitler would you? The only condition is that you, or your spouse (only if you have one) would never be born. If not killing Hitler, than some other event you could change.

I don't think I could change anything, because A) I'm not sure how the world would be today if I made a significant impact on the past, and B) because I'm not that selfless. (Also, I have no girlfriend TO sacrifice. /s I would otherwise.)

No,

Timey Wimey and all that.

EDIT: Elaboration: Killing Hitler is all good in theory, but it could change our entire viewpoint on war and people as evil. Yes there are/were others very evil themselves. But when you think of WW2, you think of Hitler and all the evil he did to the world. People have learned a lot from the mistakes made in WW2 and that has shaped the world today.

Changing that would be a bad move in my opinion.

EDIT2: Also; what if you were related in some small way to Hitler and didn't know it. Thus by killing him, you stop yourself from being born.

If time travel is ever invented, no one has the right to play god.

There's also the fact that just because you have time travel doesn't mean you even can play god. Being from the future doesn't grant protection from bullets, an obstacle anyone trying to kill Hitler would surely face.

Messing with time never sounded like a good idea to me, so I think I'll change nothing to be safe.

well i would probably just go back, use my future knowledge to manipulate world events to my design, and just stay there, but if i had to sacrifice myself for the good of humanity....

i would go back to the garden of eden and kill adam. stop this whole 'humanity' thing before it ever got out of hand.

I hate to say it, but I wouldn't change a thing. Sure I could save millions of my peoples' lives, but alot of scientific progress was made during the Holocaust and WWII, due to Nazi's being able to test on Human subjects. And I really do hate myself for saying this, but I wouldn't change a thing. Plus the whole paradox thing.
EDIT:Oh yeah and Command and Conquer: Red Alert. Nuff' said

Wait. Why do I have to kill him? Can't I just take him to a place where his art can be appreciated? I would like to keep my conscience clean while I'm messin' with the space-time continuum.

I wouldn't go back in time period, the chances of me acidentally erasing my own birth is phenomenal when you consider that if given the slightest change in seconds or movement could have resulted in a completely different child being born from my parents sexual intercourse (eww gross).

What I might do is use it to visit the future and return to the present though.

I would love to be able to travel in time, but I wouldn't change anything, just in case.

If I could go back in time, I'd stop my dad from getting sick by dragging his ass to the hospital before anything drastic happend.

Well if I killed Hitler much of the tech we have now would not have happened as well as many medical advances made by Nazi scientists. I would leave history be.

Well I'm going to go for 'that would be impossible'. Y'know, paradoxes and all would create massive problems for the world and me. Plus there's also the big change in the world from Hitler never coming to power.

You must appreciate history, but never change it.

Couldn't do it. I'd like to believe it's possible, but I do believe you'll find that due to paradoxes, you'd be unable to return to kill Hitler.

Express it this way: if your only motivation is to go back and kill Hitler, then you'll alter history so in the present day Hitler wouldn't be so hated or infamous, so you'd have no reason to return and kill him, so you wouldn't. It's an endless paradox.

if time travel was possible i just dont think you or anyone should go back and cahnge anything.

Better the devil you know and all that.

And i would think that all the events people would go back in time to change, killing one person wouldnt make a difference cause someone else would take their place.

So say you killed hittler as a child then when he would have come to power instead there is someone else and either be exactly the same or even worse.

but out of anything i would change it would have to be the dark ages. if there was some way i could prevent the dark ages thats what i would change. mainly based on the graph below. change the past and it would be like bringing the future to the present.

i am not trying to turn this into a religion thread.

i think with questions like this you need to just ignore paradoxes. they just get in the way of a fun thread.
