Both games were released near each other's release date. So, this is why I think its legitimate to compare them. Which game is the better fighting game?

The answer is pretty obvious, it's Tekken 7. Injustice 2 is just another shallow and stiff fighting game from NetherRealm. The characters are unbalanced, the hitboxes are broken, and there's too much emphasis on zoning. Its a fighting game for casuals, not for the hardcore players. Its why NetherRealm's games aren't taken seriously by the EVO elite. Injustice 2 has a lot of content, but quantity doesn't make for quality. The production values are good, but the overall story is shallow and its dark for the sake of being dark. No wonder Western fighting games aren't taken seriously, especially in Japan.

Tekken 7 on the other hand is another masterpiece from Harada-san. The gameplay is deep, innovative, fast, fluid, balanced, and fun. There's no problem with it. It doesn't have a lot of content for a $60 game, but it makes up with quality gameplay. The production values aren't as good, but it has a better storyline than Injustice 2. The story is deep, emotional, and riveting. You actually feel for Heihachi and sympathize with him the tragic events that occur to him, unlike the forgettable story of ItsJustAss 2. The netcode is also super smooth after the patch. Its the best Tekken game since Tekken 5.

So, for me: Tekken 7 > ItsJustAss 2

You could have just named this thread either "Tekken 7 is the greatest thing since chocolate" or "Injustice 2 gave me an abortion". No need to make it a versus thing.

In any case, Injustice 2. I prefer the gameplay of Tekken way more, but I couldn't give half a fuck about any of the characters or story of Tekken. On the other hand, Injustice 2 is full of characters that I fucking love. I don't like fighting games in general, so if Injustice wasn't about DC superheroes, I wouldn't have given a shit about it.

Gameplay wise I still think Injustice 2 is a bit of a mess. The Mortal Kombat games have always been more about flash and cool little secrets and less concerned with providing a solid fighting experience and while from MK9 onwards they went from complete trash to good but not as good as pretty much any other fighter out there in gameplay barring garbage like fighter within ofc.

That said I do not see how you can say Injustice 2s story is worse than T7s because T7s was god awful basically its Heihachis story which is fine but while the overall arc is fine the actual story is written extremely poorly, also why is Akuma there he literally does nothing hes just complete shoehorned filler. Kazumi is also unfortunately portrayed extremely poorly which is a shame as she could have been a really interesting character and have shone light on why Heihachi turned out like he did but nope she is killed off with nary a thought and they made her look really weak with that death scene (character wise) which kinda pissed me off as I love her design and style and just wanted some character depth. The ending also does not resolve the Mishima saga as they promised and hey whats the bet the next Tekken has Heihachi in it?

Injustice 2 on the other hand while it has its myriad of problems and also requires a large suspension of disbelief has just as good an arc imo but gets it done what 20 years quicker? and has way way better writing along the way in that I could actually understand why certain characters would act like they did unlike T7 where its more I dont like that idea *fight happens they lose* you make a good point im now totally commited to your cause.

Also feel like I should mention GGREV2 was released around the same time as well and that blows both out of the water in terms of story and the gameplay is just as solid as Tekken 7s and it has very good content and netcode. It is probably the most complete fighter out there atm in that it does almost everything to a very high standard. For personal preference in regards to fighters out there on a pure gameplay level I prefer playing Tekken 7 and Dead or Alive 5 because I just like 3d more than 2d. Injustice 2 would be near the bottom just above Injustice 1.

I feel like you would be better off comparing Injustice 2 to another 2d game most likely SFV i.e the 2 huge names in the genre and ironically imo the two that make the worst games for it.

As a fighter and competitive game?

Tekken 7 all the way.

Story/Character and some overall fun? Injustice 2. IJ2 also has really good post-story singleplayer content.

Tekken 7 is overall a better game, but it commits several serious sins. One, the story is...bad. It completely lacks any form of tutorial, period. And has shitty business practices like the fact that since I bought the game a week after release and not as a pre-order, I can't play Eliza, despite the fact I wanted to play her after watching reviews. And the online is unstable for now.

Though I personally still have more fun playing DoA, and kind of wish GGRev2 or BB:CF would come out on Xbox One already.

Huh that was a good joke, but seriously while I do have problems with Injustice 2 story(I really can't stand the Batman shilling in these game) at least the story is more coherent and more than half the roster gets a chance to shine whether or not you're playing as them(I really like the Scarecrow scenes and what we got of Captain cold was pretty good). In tekken 7 however if your favorite character isn't Lars, Kazuya, Alisa, Lee, Nina, Kazumi, Akuma or Heiechi then you're not going to be that invested in the story. Not helping the fact that I felt nothing for Heihachi so I got nothing over his history and to add insult to injury the Reporters voice was a huge mood killer.

I'll always prefer the fighting mechanics of Tekken, but Injustice 2 blows Tekken 7's story mode out of the water. There were a few fun, campy moments in Tekken 7, but overall it was meager as fuck. It was all about the Mishima's and even then it was over before it felt like it had a chance to begin.

Gameplay is the only thing that matters. You watch the story on YouTube. My answer is Tekken because I haven't played Injustice (not voting in the poll because of this).

Then why even make a choice if you haven't played both games. Smh.
Dude, I saw your original comment, btw. I just wanted to make myself clear on the matter that story mode in a fighting game means nothing (to me or dare I say a gamer like me).

And that answered absolutely nothing.
Well, that's on you.

Tekken 7 has no Beat-em Up Mode like 5 and 6, so fuck it.

Injustice 2 isnt Mortal Kombat, so fuck it.

I'm literally replaying Mortal Kombat 2011.

You should emphasize the part that its your own opinion. Story is actually one of my favorite parts of most fighting games, and is why Mortal Kombat was my favorite fighting game series, even during the 3D era where well...they werent good fighting games. (Though now its good gameplay-wise too)

Mortal Kombat, Soul Calibur, Tekken, and if Street Fighter ever wants to get its shit together, I'd include that too for where I enjoy alot of it for the story.

Well good on you. I should do that again some time. Wish the unlockable characters had not been already unlocked by default in the PC version. That's what made all the time I spent in the console version's story years ago worth the time.

Yeah, the secret characters and ALL the costumes are unlocked by default...even Mileena's costume you get for beating the 300 floor challange tower...

I remember on 360 beating the tower legit and unlocking it, and since Mileena is my main, feeling cool for having this costume few others had.

I love unlockables, cause you -earn- them, not just buy them. And I felt it with that, even if I did not like the costume itself much.

Correct answer for best fighter released in May is "Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator 2" but out of these two tekken takes it easily. Injustice is too preoccupied with being easy to do inputs with and with cosmetics and doesn't take the time to give the game enough depth.
