My opinion of D3 really isn't going to be changed, with it being a sequel to such an awesome series, but no offline play certainly does suck.

I am a little annoyed as I do occasionally find my laptop somewhere without an internet connection, but that's a small percentage of the time and I can always play Minecraft.

I think it's just very stupid for the game to require internet connection when it is a single player game. I mean there is no good reason why it should require it.

No, not really, I do think that "no offline" sucks since I will be mostly (if not all of it) be playing the singleplayer mode.
The Microtransaction thing and the No Mods thing, that something to ***** about.

My internet is kind of...spotty...to say the least, until I move, this means I won't even be able to play single player if the game's actually going to shut down my SP session if I lose connection.

Yes it is for me. There is no reason I should be locked out of a single player portion of a game that I have purchased simply because my internet goes out or has issues. I will not waste my money on shit like this.

Honestly if you played D2 alone then you're just chopping off your leg to prove you can to an empty room. (There really isn't a reason to play online unless you don't have an internet connection). The debate of weather online connection expectations are outpacing the actual spread of the internet is an issue for people to debate on another topic though. (on a side note, I think torchlight was crippled by a lack of online and D3 will also be crippled if not played online).

Absolutely a deal breaker. Really doesnt matter if everyone has an internet connection or not I do not approve of this. I feel its the wrong direction for gaming. I feel it hurts the industry out of sheer unadulterated ignorance and I will vote as such by keeping my wallet shut.

I'm going to assume you mean that there isn't really a reason to play offline?
So what your saying is D2 shouldnt be played alone because its like cutting of your own leg in an empty room to prove you can? now that makes absolutely no sense...You sound like the only reason you have for playing games is getting attention from people who play that game. I can play games by myself just fine. And it wouldnt hurt you one bit if I had the ability to play offline if I wanted to would it? I have to go with a train 2 hours a day in which i have my laptop with me. maybe i'd like to play some D3 in that train? Oh but wait i can't... well I can play when I'm home but theres still the cash auction house and no mods so I probarbly won't buy it anyway...

The thing with Diablo 2, and one, and theoretically 3 if it hadn't changed is that you can't use single player characters online. There are multiplayer and singleplayer characters and never the two shall meet. Diablo 2, like Torchlight and Borderlands, is really more fun when you play it with others (well I think that and so do most of the reviews I have seen). On top of that, in multiplayer you don't have to play with anyone, you can play on a private game if you so desire. As a result, I consider playing single player as playing the game with a gimp, crippling yourself by ensure that your character can never play online on participate in a nothing but a more limited single player. That is why I see singleplayer in Diablo as only something to do if you can't play online. Multiplayer offers the same things and more and choosing to not play it if you have the option is not reasonable. It's choosing an inferior product for no clear reason. I understand that some people don't have online access but this isn't an argument for the superior of multiplayer, it's an argument for the nonsense of singlplayer in Diablo 2 and 1.

Definitely not a deal breaker. I'm going to buy it to play with my cousin, so I plan to be connected anyway. Besides, I play on a desktop, which is more or less permanently online.

What I don't like is the idea that I was finally going to think about maybe giving online PVP a try, but not if my adversary can just buy all the best shit. I wasn't excited about the prospect, though, so it's whatever. I'm excited for team campaign multiplayer.

Ahh! I answered the question in the title line, and not the one that the pole was actually asking... :/

To specify, No I don't think it's going to be a deal breaker, and yes I'm still going to buy the game.

You are still saying that because you find it inferior I should not have the option. By that logic we shouldn't be able to play D3 to begin with because someone somewhere in the world is going to say that D3 is inferior to D2. This is a pretty big dealbreaker for me in the sense that i take my laptop to places where i don't neccesarly have internet. And even if 99.99% of the world agrees, what you think of a game is still simply an opinion. I have the same problem with steam not allowing you to play your games when you are not connected to the internet. I'm not buying the game(unless the game is so amazing it convinces me otherwise). that however won't mean I won't play it. Same as I do with steam games I would like to play when I'm not home.

HUGE deal breaker for me. First all info looks like trash. Now... online only?! Fantastic. Screw off, Blizzard.

Not really. I have a good internet connection at home, but I will never play multiplayer. Ever. Why? For the same reason I would never play Mass Effect multiplayer. It's my game, I'm playing it so I can have fun, not get grieved, or have to wait up for a friend who's lagging behind. Also, what if I want to play... on a plane? There's no wi-fi there, and If it's a long flight, an in-flight movie usually won't cut it.

Remember, just because YOU have a decent internet connection does not mean EVERYONE does.

What happens if your internet connection drops, and you've not saved your game for an hour?

What happens if you get a lottery-win level of quality drop *just* as your connection dies?

I don't get why people are so enraged by this game, most videos of it up on Youtube are 90% hate spam and stupid nitpicks. The amount of time people put into whining about this game shows that they have the connection to play it fine.
