I played the Halo: Reach multiplayer beta for the first time yesterday and I am some what impressed. I like the new look and weapons, but I didn't feel like I was playing a Halo game. The direction bungie is going with Reach is new for the series and I am on the fence and I want input from you guys and girls at the escapist.

If I'm honest it feels exactly the same as Halo 3 to me, just with a few extras and better graphics. I rather enjoyed Halo 3 so that's good enough for me.

For the poll Yes.

Its taking all the good things in Halo, mushing them together and making it great.

Oh, they're definitely not going to far. Know why? Because 'far' isn't even a verb. They CAN'T far.
Unless you mean 'too' far.

Voted yes. In my opinion, they changed things up just enough to keep it interesting, but not so much you felt like it was an entirely different
(non-Halo) game.

Yeah, I think they really should have stopped with Halo 3. A good showman will always leave his (or her) audience wanting just a little bit more.

I personally can't wait for this game to come out, I'm a casual gamer, but i know a good MP when i see one, and i can tell this will be big, at least for a little while.

People complain that the games are too similar and are all the same, now people complain it's too different.

Does not compute.

All the games are the exact same anyway, I hope bungie tries something new, even if they do I still won't buy it since I don't play games for just the multiplayer.

and is it just me or does halo seem to be suffering from twilight syndrome and just keeps releasing lack-luster installments every few months?

From what I have heard (but haven't played as I'm not in the Beta), I'm undecided. Most people who have played the Beta do say that it feels like an evolved version of Halo, which I consider a good thing. My personal concern, however, is with the jetpack. To me that is the one added element that really doesn't "feel" like Halo at all. It does sound as if they are balancing the Jetpack out to some extent by limiting it's use and making falling damage deadly, but I still can't help but gag a little at the thought.

I suppose I'm also a little concerned by the focus on team objective based modes in the Beta as I've always sort of equated Halo multiplayer with Slayer mode and little else... but I guess there's other modes in Halo1/2/3 and Slayer was always the focus of the players there anyway.

I say yes.

Its like they took all the good things from the Halo's multiplayer, and shoved them together along with a few new awesome additions.

The active roster in the lobby is also one of the greatest things in a game ever.
