First of all, I want to make it absolutely clear: I... LOVE... THE ESCAPIST! Even though I've only been a member since June, I've been regularly visiting the site since Zero Punctuation first came on the scene a couple of years ago. And over time, I've enjoyed many of the other segments (Stolen Pixels, Unforgotten Realms, video game reviews, etc.)

But as the months rolled on, I've seen more and more and more additions to the site. It's starting to feel a little crowded in here, with all these various topics and segments. The tipper for me was when I logged on today and saw the Escapist News Network. Don't get me wrong, I liked the ENN segment. But as I was watching it, a voice in the back of my head asked "Really? Do we really need another Onion News clone?"

It feels like The Escapist is trying to please everyone, which is a dangerous thing, since it runs the risk of pleasing no one. So the question I ask of you would be if The Escapist is putting too much stuff on their site? Why or why not?

I don't bother, you don't need to look at everything and I ignore what I don't like so to me it's not got alot in it.

Nope, it doesn't feel like there is too much stuff. Go to places like IGN or Gamespot and you'll see that we are relatively uncrowded (content wise). The Escapist is just growing to encompass a larger audience.

Poll's pretty one-sided so far, how can you have too much variety? The site makes it easy to find only what you want to watch/read and as each segment is created by different people it's not like talents are being stretched too thin.

As an aside I didn't realise much had been added in the past few months - and when it does add something it's normally because something's been dropped or a gap's being filled.

Content? No. It's got something for everyone. Not everything is my cup of tea, but I'm sure each feature has its own set of fans.

Forum posts? Yes. Especially duplicate topics, or really stupid/pointless discussions. It's way more content than I would ever read through.

The only thing that there is too much of are people who respond to every post with "I don't care." never really offering opinions. Those people annoy me.

I like all of the series on The Escapist except Unforgotten Realms for some reason.

No. If you don't like it, don't watch it.

Ok, sorry for slipping into Mr Cliche mode there, but that's honestly what I think - you're not being forced to watch it, so enjoy ZP and stick your fingers in your ears whenever anyone mentions the News Network.

Eh not so much. When I first got here I was overloaded with all sorts of whatnot and sat through days worth of videos but now that I usually come over here a few times a day to read the news or watch the occasional video.

How could people think more is bad when they still have everything they had before?

Well, I object to blatantly ripping off other people's work on the principal that comedy gets diluted through that process. That said, more content in itself isn't a bad thing. The quality of the new content is what determines its worth.

I am extremely biased, but I disagree.
It's the internet, there's plenty of room. If you don't want to watch a given thing, don't. If someone else does, it's there for them.

(Also, ONN is great and all, but that wasn't our inspiration. They weren't the first comedy news show ever.)
