...so take off all your clothes!"

ahem...apologies for the impromptu Nelly reference there.

Just wanted to know what preference people had between being either too hot or too cold. This is an argument that I've had with many different people over the years, I enjoy meeting strangers and asking them...it helps to break the tension.

My own opinion is that it is better to be too cold because you can always put on more layers (even to the point of not being able to walk). If you're too hot however, the furthest you can go is naked and sometimes that's a little frowned upon! Once you're naked, there's nothing more you can do if you're still far too hot, short of sitting on the freezer...but fuck that, ice on my balls is not an experience I would like to relive.

So yeah...thoughts? I'd like to hear instances where you've gone to great (and perhaps absurd) lengths to stay warm or cool down.

You've pretty much summed up my explanation in your post. i tend to have this argument with people lots, they keep telling me they'd be hot not cold.

I'd rather be cold. Grab a nice lass and pile on the blankets, won't be cold for long.

Wow, you have the exact same train of thought as I do.

I have basically said the same things as well. I also love to get as many blankets on me as I can during winter and or snugging in a blanket and drinking hot cocoa.

What is this "cold" you speak of. -5 is a mild winter and I'll gladly wear shorts and a t-shirt in such weather, even if there's snow.

I love cold weather, it's the only time I'm warm without being too hot. So I guess "cold" is better, even though I've never been "too cold" for any reason short of a high fever.

I like the cold.. I live in Norway and work at sea... So when it is below freezing point.. That is when i like it the best..

Cause then you will have to work hard to get warm, and its always nice knowing you are making an effort at work too..

If you're too hot it's better to be too cold. If you're too cold it's better to be too hot.

Never once have I been too hot and thought "God I'm hot but damn I'm glad I'm not too cold!" (or vice versa).

I love the cold. Put me into a -5°C environment with shorts and a t-shirt and you won't hear me complaining, but +25°C and trending upwards basically means you get to watch me die by degrees (see what I did there?).
So yeah, better to be cold and then warm up a bit.

I have an affinity with heat. I love to be incredibly hot and just jump into tepid-cold waters...

yup, this is true. I went to Turkey a few months back and it almost fucking killed me. Even my kitchen when i've been cooking makes me evaporate.

I live in a place with a potential temperature range of -40c to +30c. And I work with torches and hot tar.

Staying warm isn't a problem.

I'm not too bothered by either. But living in Sydney we don't really get extremes in either (yes it does get pretty hot, but it's not extremely hot).

Living in Australia means I prefer the cold. For one, it's rarely freezing, and you can just put on more clothes. In summer, I spend most of my time having a cold shower or wishing I was having a cold shower. Besides I'm incredibly heat intolerant.

When it's cold you can snuggle up, but when it's hot there isn't much you can do.

Heats nice when you're just relaxing outside, but if you're stuck inside or have a long walk to somewhere it's horrible.

It can never be too hot for me, I'm a big fan of heat. And it's neither true that you can't do anything anymore once you're naked (as long as there's water, you can always cool off) nor that you can always put on more clothes (how do you prevent your eyeballs from freezing off? How do you breathe if the air freezes in your lungs?)
