Roger Ebert's comment
"Friends don't let jackasses drink and drive."

He died because he was drunk and speeding, I'm glad he killed himself before he killed innocent people.
I'm not trying to be offensive and I know one of his passengers died, but there are a lot of people talking about how tragic this is and Ebert is getting a lot of flack for his comment. But in my opinion Ryan Dunn killing him self and one of the idiots willing to get into the car with him is far from the worst thing that could have happened.

It still sucks. He seemed like a nice guy.

(Before anyone sets in on me, I've had a cousin killed by a drunk driver.)

It sucks. Drunk driving is one of the most preventable and terrible things someone can do, and a fuck up like this is always sad.
At least he didn't kill anyone else (Unless his passenger friend died I'm not sure).

Tragedy for everyon who knew him, he was one of the few Jackasses that seemed nice.
But still he is just a replaceable professional idiot that lived by doing stupid things that anyone could do and died by doing something stupid no one should do.
So no. I have to be honest and say: I dont care at all. But i have to say that is my honest reaction to everyone dying i didnt know or admire.Peter Steele, Dio , these were tragedies. But MTV "stars", strangers in planes, people caught by tsunamis, hurricanes, tornadoes, terrorists ;the incident itself: shocking, the individual people: no reaction at all. Always been like this. Probably wont change, i dont care about random strangers. If i honestly did, i couldnt spent a second with anything but crying.
This counts doubly so for people dying while doing something ridiculously stupid, like drunk driving, jumping off cliffs, fighting wars, juggling chainsaws or handling dangerous wild animals (yup looking at you steve)

honestly I think texting and driving is a bigger issue at least around Ontario nobody really drinks n drives anymore its to much of a risk if you get caught while text n driveing I have started to see more and more and frankly I would rather be driving with sombody a little empaired than sombody not even looking at the road at all

Does anyone find it ironic that Dunn was known for putting a toy car in his colon?

Nobody knows that he was drunk or speeding yet, it is just speculation. I personally really liked the guy, I grew up watching him and his death is a shame.

Meh.
Drink and drive, at some point something like this is bound to happen. I feel more sorry for the passenger, but still, he (or she, I dunno) could have stopped him from driving while drunk, so not much sympathy here.

So Ryan Dunn's dead.

Is it sad? Yes, because someone has died.

Is it surprising? No.

Honestly, the man was a professional dumbass. This was the most likely ending for someone like that, especially if the guy was drinking just before driving.

It is know that he was drinking and then his car careened off the road into a wooded area and burst into flames. Would you like to give me an explanation for what happen that does not involve drunk driving and speeding?

It is known that he was drinking yes, but when and how much, people aren't sure of. Similarly, nobody knows the speed that the car was goind when it crashed or why it crashed. People are just jumping to conclusions. Don't get me wrong, it is a likely story, but just don't say the guy deserved it for something that has not been proven.

I don't think the death of a single person alone can ever be called a tragedy unless he was contributing something truly exceptional to the arts or sciences.

This was a guy who shoved toy cars up his rectum for entertainment, so no I don't see his death as a tragedy.

I was going to make a topic on this after seeing how many people find this a tragedy on the internets, but I'm glad to see a lot of people have picked up on this already.

My heart goes out to anybody that loses anybody close to them, my mother is suffering from aggressive cancer currently so I know how hard things like this can be, and I'm sure anybody that was close to him is in agony right now, but this doesn't change the fact that what he was doing was a very stupid thing to do.

If his death was a tragedy then so was his friends, where's the news story about that? - People valuing the life of a celebrity because they have seen him been kicked in the balls on TV and he 'seems a nice guy' over a person that was never in the public eye (he could have been a very nice person) is just sickening and immoral.
Just imagine for one second that it was his friend that crashed the car with him in it, how would the outlook be on it then? People would be angry at the person who crashed the car and killed a famous person they knew about, and would still go on not caring about the non famous dead man or even start hating him.

Also he was drink driving at something like 110 mph and could have seriously hurt an innocent person nearby, I'd rather it happen to the drunk person in the car travelling at 110mph than somebody who doesn't deserve it at all.

I think people need to start getting 'celebrity deaths' into perspective, 1000s of innocent people die every day, that go unhelped and unnoticed, yet for some reason when some Jackass (in both senses) flips his own car over at 110 mph its a 'tragedy'. People who think 1 person dying due to a lack of common sense is tragedy, then they should see what's happening in the rest of the world and then justify that claim.

He died as he lived,

with metallic pieces of automobiles stuck inside his ass.

Jokes aside, yeah of course it was a tragedy. Any unexpected death is a tragedy and the fact he was drinking and acting like a moron doesn't change how tragic it is.

Some would say that every death is a tragedy, but i don't really care, it's the same as any news report about a random guy crashing his car while driving drunk, only this time he happens to be somewhat famous.
