After the mega popular Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion, people wanted Elder Scrolls V. So 5 years and 2 Fallout games later we have Skyrim.

First off, the story. It starts off where you are being taken into a small village to be executed with a handful of other prisoners. Then as you are about to be killed, a dragon (Alduin) and starts to attack village. While this is going on, you escape and choose whether to side with an imperial guard or another prisoner. After you side with one of the two, it is up to you to stop Alduin. The reason it is your responsibility is because you are a Dragonborn. There is a ton of depth to the main story, side quests, and just the world itself. The writing is great as expected. Overall, the story is great.

Now for the gameplay. This game can be played in first-person or in third-person. (First-person is the better option if only because of the emersion factor) You have the ability to duel wield weapons and spells or wield a two-hand weapon. There are plenty of interesting spells and cool weapons to use and mix as you choose. There is also the power you get called ?shouts.? You get these by finding ?words of power? and killing a dragon and absorbing it?s soul. So needless to say, there is a ton of variety in the gameplay and every play through will be different in some way.

Now for the design of the game. This game is a open world game. The world is constructed very well and filled with people with actual personalities that make this world feel real. There are also so many towns to visit and places to explore. Hours can be spent just wondering around and exploring. There is so much to do and so many adventures to be had. This is one of the best open worlds in gaming. There are a lot of glitches in this game but they can be overlooked and are to be expected with a open world such as this one.

Now for the graphics. This game looks beautiful. There is a ton of detail in the environment that allows the player to be sucked into the world of Skyrim. The character models are rough around the edges and the faces and movements are stiff, but the models overall look nice. The animals and other creatures in the game are of the same quality of the regular character models. All the weapons are very detailed and are cool to look at.

Now for the audio. The voice acting is great. Every character has a personality and feels real. The voice actors deliver every line great. The writing is also fantastic and what the characters say sounds like what they would say if they were real and fits with their personality. The music is amazing. All the tracks are put together amazingly and fit with the setting they are used in. Be it the battle music or just walking around and exploring, the music always fits and is great.

What I liked about the game. I liked the open world. I liked the writing for the most part. It kept me entertained. I like the setting and the music. I thought they both blended together to create a good atmosphere in the game. I liked the characters. They made the world feel more real and alive. I liked the weapons, spells, shouts and combat system as a whole. The story was also pretty good. I also liked the graphics, they were nicely done. What really stole the show for me though was voice acting. Every voice actor pulls off every line they are givin' very well.

What I didn't like about the game. Just how buggy this game can get. So buggy that a few quests are broken and can only be completed a certain way.

Overall I think Skyrim is a fantastic game and any gamer should play it. It does have problems but the good far outweigh the bad for me. I would recommend this game for any gamer to have in their collection.
