we all know who is well liked (*cough Baker Tennant *cough*). now here's your chance to hash out who was the worst thing that ever happened to the franchise:

(Hartnell,Baker, and Tennant have been spared by virtue of Hartnell being the first ((therefor default)) baker being well liked, and Tennant being well liked by the kids. Eccleston's your option if you loathe the new series.)

oh in case you're confused Matt Smith is the fellow who's been tapped to replace Tennant after the 4 specials (so he shows up in 2010). this is him:

I'll wait and see what Matt Smith is like in the role before I pass judgement, but am I the only one who thinks he looks really bloody smug? That said, I'd be pretty smug if I got such a massive role despite being virtually unknown. Also, the only other thing I've seen him in involved him having sex with Billie Piper, another reason to be smug I suppose.

As for the poll, then... I thought Christopher Ecclestone was pretty poor. Something about him being more himself than a character, I'm not keen on the idea of the Doctor being a big brash northern bloke.

Where the hell is Tom Baker? I mean, he is THE Doctor, but I disliked him. Anyways, I chose Paul McGann instead, because Colin Baker's main issue was unintuitive writers.

As for Matt Smith, I like his acting, and he has great potential as a Doctor. He could lose the haircut, though.

I hate Sylvester McCoy. Not on a personal level as i am sure he's a nice guy but he just never seemed like the Doctor to me even when i was a child. Its a shame as he is a good actor and thoroughly enjoyed watching him in King Lear (as King Lears fool) with Ian Mckellan. I do feel that people are being overly harsh with their somewhat preemptive criticism upon Matt Smith. Its true that i would not have chosen him because of his appearence but he could be a good choice as i thought the last two choices would be rubbish and i was pleasently surprised by them.

EDIT: To the person above: Please tell me, are you joking?

Other: Can not answer, I've only seen a few episodes where the same actor was used(the one with the episode where that hospital is teleported to the moon, I think that's the current actor/doctor but I'm not sure)

Believe or not, I don't think I know anyone who has ever heard about Doctor Who. And I know 100+ people, just from school. I don't count the Internet and people older than me.

Your missing out then dude, Doctor Who is great and if you get the opportunity to watch it do so. The new series are ok but go back and watch some of the older ones for a truly entertaining sci-fi experience. Oh, and its not american by the way; its a good ol' British show.

I have only ever seen David Tennant and Christopher Eccleston, the others were before my time. I wont vote due to my obvious bias, but Eccleston cant stand up to Tennant. It just isnt possible.

Rove: So Raven, last question, who would you tu- "Tennant! Err, I mean... so, hows about that local sports team?"

Matt Smith, as so far all the others have failed to dissapoint me, though I think tennant started to loose it a bit after his first season. Plus I don't like his smug face.

I'll have to abstain from voting, for now, because of my approach to watching the series. I didn't care for most of the earlier storylines- the first and second Doctors- so my long-suffering wife and I started with the Third Doctor. We're nearly done, and ready to move on to the Fourth, though it's easier to bear now that Jo Grant is out of the picture... Anyway, the only Doctor I really didn't care for was the newest one. But it's more of a beef with the tone of the series, rather than the character.

The next Doctor might just lift the series into seriousness and out of camp childishness.
I have a lot of hope for him and the future of the series.

I think Matt Smith having the most votes even though he hasn't even been in an episode yet is a bit much. Give him a chance, the same thing happened with Ecclestone and with Tennant.
