While browsing around Youtube with lack of anything better to do, I came across a video about Saw 7 and Paranormal Activity 2. Semi-liking the Saw franchise and having enjoyed Paranormal Activity I decided to check it out. And I was shocked (kinda). Turns out Kevin Greutert (director of Saw 6) was going to direct PA 2, is being forced to come back to work on Saw 7 because of some option in the contract he signed for Saw 6 (I'm not sure on the details but from what I heard it said that they could if they wanted to, get him to come back to work on future Saw movies). David Hackl (director of Saw 5) was kicked out of the job for directing the movie, which he had been preparing for for months, and now with 2 weeks left before production starts, Lionsgate/Twisted Pictures change directors.

I don't think this is fair at all. It's making Greutert direct a movie he doesn't want to direct and not allowing him a chance to move on and expand on his directing. His heart won't be in the movie and the movie will probably suffer because of that (Saw 4 is a good example). It's not too fair for Hackl either, to just be dropped off after all the prep time he put into wanting to make this.

I can understand wanting to get back at Paramount for setting their release date to same as Saw 7's but being this dirty about it is in my opinion disgusting. Yeah, the Saw series is tired and Paranormal Activity 2 may end up like Blair Witch Project 2 but if they have to happen they should happen honestly.

This is why you are suppose to read the contract throughly before signing it. It's a smart move by Lionsgate to keep the competition without a director, but it is a low move none the less.

Well, it's not fair, and the movie almost definitely will suffer for it.

I really wish he would do something stupid that will not be noticed until after release.

Like having a tiny rubber duck on every scene.

Also, where's Namless and his welcome speech when you need it?
