Well, The Secret World is an MMO, and I hear it's pretty good. Me, I'm hooked on EverQuest 2 since it's f2p, and amazing, made back when the RPG in MMORPG meant something.

If you want some more single player RPGs, would you rather a western style, or JRPG?

Western-wise, it's hard to beat The Witcher 2, Skyrim, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, and Dragon's Dogma. All are spectacular....

JRPG wise, the best I can do is Final Fantasy XIII-2. It has a primer to tell you everything that happened in XIII, and is the closest we'll ever get to the Chrono Trigger remake with how it handles time travel. If you have a PS2, though, great RPGs are pretty much a dime a dozen, from Grandia to Drakengard.

If you have an original Xbox, although it runs on 360, it runs better on Xbox, look for Breakdown. It's not an RPG, but a spectacular first person adventure. Part FPS, part first person brawler, and you later on gain psychic powers, like a flying kick, or hurling energy blasts. The game NEVER leaves your character's perspective, no matter what. It's got an incredible story, and is something I can never recommend highly enough.

So, if you want to play fighting game, I'd recommend Blazblue: Continuum shift Extended. Great gameplay, nice story and one of the best online modes I ever played (pn PS3, at least)
If westen RPG, then Bioware games (Mass effect series, Dragon Age series, Jade empire).
If you have a PS2, I could recommend the following JRPG's: Persona 3 FES, Persona 4 and Final Fantasy X (but they consume a GREAT ammount of time).

You're either going to absolutely love it, or consider it sub-par.
There doesn't seem to be a grey area with TSW.

Just play Fallout New Vegas. It's an RPG at heart with great writing and all that but seeing as how you're more of an FPS player (and you can do a lot of FPSing in new vegas) it'd be a good way to introduce you to it.

Also its awesome.

I'd recommend the fallout series since they have a lot of shooter elements so you may be more comfortable with that.
I don't know much about JRPGs so other than fallout I could recommend Skyrim I guess. If you want a challenge then Dark souls is a lot of fun, but it has a very steep learning curve so prepare to die a lot if you get it.

Also Secret worlds is an MMO and if you want to ply then prepare to feel like a cow being milked as they use an initial price, A subscription fee and Microtransactions. This may turn you off from it, it stopped me even paying attention to it.

It's a good story yes but oh so confusing, anyone who jumps into it should be prepared to have no clue what is going on, I am still figuring it out.

1. Well, yeah, but you know how japanese do it: they'll reveal everything in 3rd part.
2. How in the name of bloody hell could I forget about Fallout?!

Sorry if this isn't answering your question but this is a good way to find out gaming gems that you like.

I would suggest cherry picking the best that each sub genre has to offer, find out what you like and what you don't like and branch out from there. When you get a better picture of what you like / dislike go to a forum that tends to know their stuff (like the folk here who know their PC WRPGs) and give them a detailed lowdown to find what you want.

Don't fall into the pitfall of playing just one or 2 examples and thinking thats what the whole genre has to offer.

You post dosn't give us much to work on, RPG is a big genre and SW is a MMORPG, we don't even know what platforms you have other than PC.

Judging from your avatar (Chorno Trigger right?) I would suggest one of the YS games on Steam, YS Origin is new to the west btw. You might also enjoy Reccettear, do you like connect 3 puzzlers/ chess? check out might and magic: clash of heroes it's a weird Puzzler/ JRPG hybrid.

Make sure you pick up the Baulders Gate when that rereleases.

For RPG shooters, Fallout3, Borderlands and its DLC is on steam sale atm

As for MMOs I don't really play them so I can't help you there.

Well..

I am not what systems you have, but I will make a couple suggestions for each which are not shooters (or not entirely based on shooters)

Xbox: In no particular order, I would suggest Forza series, Dirt series, Skyrim, Dark Souls, Batman Arkham Asylum/city,

PS3: God of War III, Gran Turismo, ICO/Shadow of Colossus HD pack, Twisted Metal (kinda shooting but I personally enjoy it) Little big planet (either).

*note* - PS3 also has a significant amount of JRPG's to them which I dont currently have a lot of experience with, but have heard good thing of the 'Tales' series as well as personna series.

PC: Bastion (steam), Portal 2(steam), there are a host of RTS games, everything from Dawn of War, to C&C, etc, Rollarcoaster Tycoon (A surprisingly guilty pleasure of mine) and you can always go old school and try and rock out some NWN/Baulders Gate :D

Hope that helps a bit.. those are just my preferences for "non" shooters

I would be remiss without at least suggesting you give EVE Online a try.

Also, Terraria is great. Very good shooter/lite-rpg with creativity elements.

I got NV during the Summer sale, and have fallen in love with it.
While Fallout 3 seemed to have a more full wasteland, it's so much easier to fall into a character for New Vegas. First time I've ever carried something around that gave no bonus in a game like that.

Now OT:
For RPGs, the new Penny Arcade game is a nice budget adventure that is decidely old school, and Cthulhu saves the world is fairly fun too.
For shooters, E.Y.E divine cybermancy takes some getting used too, but once it clicks it becomes incredibly fun. Nothing like running in with three clones of yourself (a starting ability) as distractions as you hack enemies to turn on their allies, all while a three story tall monster is fighting a street over.
Another shooter (if you like RTS too) is Nuclear Dawn. It's an online class based game (very little customization as of now sadly), but one person is the commander, who plays the game as a RTS. While the soldiers are capturing resources and fighting, he puts down defenses and upgrades.
EDIT: If you like turn based 4X, Endless Space is AWESOME. It's intuitive without losing complexity, the fighting is simple but still has depth, and the research tree is gigantic.
Also, the race creator has massive amounts of options, and the pre made races are balanced too. Altitude Studios also has a neat Game2Gether (their name not mine) system where the communtiy votes for game content priority (such as which community made race gets added, what new hero comes out first, etc)
