I was watching Comedians Getting Coffee (the Jerry Seinfeld web-series), the first episode where Jerry and Larry David talk about boxer shorts vs. briefs. I've always thought you're supposed to "outgrow" briefs as a teen or at least as an adult, and from a straight guy's point of view adults wearing briefs look a little bit silly, no matter whether you're Larry David (TMI? Sorry) or an underwear model. There's something... childish about them. But that's just my opinion. And I'd rather hear out what kind of underwear strangers use than start work on that college paper due tomorrow. Do you prefer briefs, boxers or (my favorite) the combo option of boxer briefs?

(Ladies, you can vote which kind of underwear looks better on a man if you want)

Boxers definately. Helps with the sperm count and i feels less...restrictive. There is a 40 year old dude at work that wears briefs and everyone mocks him about it ( behind his back of course because that's what adults do).Hell i stopped wearing briefs when i was like 10.

I know a lot of people who don't even buy briefs for their kids. They went straight from diapers to childrens boxers.

Boxer briefs are the only way to go. Plain boxers are comfy for just being lazy in, but too loose for me for everyday wear. And plain briefs are just uncomfortable, either too tight or way too baggy.

Boxer briefs are the best. Pure boxers are too...roomy. A little support is nice, without being restrictive like pure briefs. However, as silly as briefs look, making fun of people for wearing them is even more silly.

And I never understood the sperm count argument. We all have way more sperm than we need anyway!

I prefer boxers/boxer briefs on men, nothing too tight.

Briefs are definitely not a favourite of mine, I kind of associate them with little boys or really old men.

While boxers do let everything breathe and flow, boxer briefs were a god send. Good support in the right places and I don't know why (TMI inc) but I've had far less swamp ass since wearing boxer briefs and for that I'll never go back.

Boxers, baggier the better!

Never understood this support argument for boxer briefs, what needs supporting? Just let your dingleberries be dangleberries.

When I wear boxer briefs I get rope burn on my inner thighs, then I adjust and end up with sweaty thighs rubbing against each other, which is just fucking agony when you walk about 5 miles a day!

As a woman, I say boxer briefs all the way. Boxers just don't look like underwear to me (plus now that I think of it, I associate them with my dad so that's a bit weird); briefs... I'm sorry, but they just look hilarious.

Also, the female version of boxer briefs are pretty damn awesome too.

You have nothing there! That is why you like (girls) boxer briefs. Try wearing a bra a size too small (instead of a 32C, a 30B) and then tell me how much better boxer briefs are. Boxers are like wearing no bra, just free to be!

Question. Are we talking about white briefs? Because those are the ones that I associate with children. A grown man in colored briefs(especially if its a dark color) doesn't look too bad. But in general, as a woman, I do like the look of boxer briefs.

Actually, panties that are too tight are very uncomfortable and even if they are the right size thongs feel weird. The right size bra can be uncomfortable after a while as well, that's why we take them off as soon as we get home. But fashion dictates certain undergarments so we deal.

Maybe you have your size wrong?

Fashion dictates? Fashion is a horrible, horrible thing. Do what feels good, not what some over paid douche thinks is correct. Anyway, fashion is incredibly silly ... those cat walk models are just walking punch lines.

Nope, I buy medium boxers (which fit well) but I prefer large (more baggy) but even if I buy XL boxer briefs I'm red raw! My thighs look like Rudolph's nose! Hobo's gather their hands around my groin for the heat given off from the friction ... I fear I may have been too descriptive....!

I wasn't really making a distinction, I've never paid much attention to color. But for the record all the briefs I wore as a kid were colored (usually blue or grey), whereas some of the boxer briefs I wear now are white.

It's not even that complicated. It is just that women have a wider variety of clothes to choose from, but that necessitates different types of underwear. Unless you want your underwear to show that is, and that defeats the purpose of it being underwear. But for example, one would wear a strapless bra with a tube top.

I have pretty big thighs for my frame so I understand the feeling. Though its the opposite for me. I can't wear skirts with woman's briefs or else the rubbing gets to me. So I end up wearing tights so that my thighs don't rub together. I need the fabric as a barrier.

So is it just the tighness then? Within reason (because some dudes just don't have the ass to pull off skinny jeans) I kinda wish men would wear tighter clothes, or at least fitted. Some dudes take it so far that that they just look like they are wear bags instead of clothes. It's not attractive. And for sexy times why not bust out the briefs, either your lady friend will like it, or you'll both have a good laugh.

I suppose it's a combination of shape and tightness. While briefs can be tight, they don't offer much support, and I find the contrast between that tiny undergarment and a full-sized adult ridiculous. I like boxers for the crotch space and the look, but I prefer to wear them at home where I just throw on a pair of swimming trunks, which are also spacious. I only wear jeans outside and since they're a tight fit, I prefer a tight fit to go with them while retaining leg support. Otherwise it feels like I'm wearing a rag or something. So boxer briefs for me, most of the time.

The impression I get is, women don't care if underwear is visible or not. From leggings/tights that are 100% see through to bra straps to lowrider jeans+over the hip underwear strings.

I know the effort is there sometimes but I distinctly remember an over weight woman wearing cheapo (read:totally see through) leggings and you could read the label on her frenchies ... Need a gallon of mind bleach for that one. (nothing against larger people but dress appropriately!)

I'm like a PC, I need a good air flow or I go to pot! I need a layer of fabric but if the fabric is too tight, it becomes a sweat box and nice soft fabric turns to rope and starts to saw through my legs. Doesn't help that I walk very quickly and I walk everywhere!

To go slightly off topic. Why can I go to the beach and see women in bikini's all day long but a woman in bra and knickers/panties turns into a 1930's prude!?

Boxer since it has more freedom, the only time I had wore brief was when I was a kid.

I honestly doubt that every woman you see is dressed that way.

Its just the context of the garment and the place where it is being displayed.

No, not every woman but more than you would think, especially friday and saturday nights in town centres. Saw a woman last Sat wearing only 3 items of clothing, converse, tights and a vest. It's like this woman never heard of the concept of wearing clothes over other clothes.
