I like anime better than manga mainly because to me it's more organized. Although I do like manga because you can take it wherever you go.

Why choose? Granted, with some, either or is objectively better by virtue of being longer, giving more of the story, or just better suited to the action.

Depends on the series obviously but here is my generalization.

Manga is better than Anime
Animated is better than Comics

Wierd I know but I love animation properly done better than I love graphic stories done properly. However I find manga tends to be better than anime ussually.

*meh* Depends on the series, but I like both.

Take Nodame Cantabile... probably the worst concept for a manga, since most of the story is based around music and the playing of music. Right through the entire story, various classical pieces play pivotal roles to the characters' development. And yet, the manga is brilliant because it uses the writing to substitute for the emotiveness of the music.

And the anime is brilliant because it weaves the music into the story without being intrusive or background (with the exception of Rach2, which I maintain, they could've put in the entire of the first movement into that half-ep, I still rage about it now).

I like both. I prefer manga for Dragon Ball and Naruto because there's no filler but for other shows like NGE, there's no filler and it offers much, much more.

I'm the opposite. I haven't read that much manga, but what I have read came after I watched the anime. With things like Fairy Tail and One Piece I pick up where the anime left off. With things like Kure-nai and Elfen Lied I read the whole manga, as it is different rather than just "ahead". The exception is of course manga without anime adaptions. (Haven't read too many of these however.)

I like anime because I'm lazy. Dubbed because I'm lazy too.

Some Anime tend to drag the series on and on with fillers, but when it's done correctly (Full Metal Alchemist) it both captures the mood better and make the action seem more alive than the Manga.

I prefer reading over watching, It's more fast paced and of course the "it's the original" argument must be thrown in.
There are a few execptions but mainly I like the Manga better.

Anime, when done well. I used to love finding out that a manga that I picked up reading and liked a lot was getting an anime adaptation, and I was always thrilled when it was good, i.e., The World God Only Knows anime adaptation was excellent. I hate it though when the aesthetics go down the shitter just to animate it, like negima, the first anime. I really hated that anime quite a bit, but loved the manga and the way the manga was drawn. The quality didn't transfer :(.

I prefer anime because I enjoy being able to use more of my senses.

Manga is good if anime isn't an option, but I don't believe it being the source material to be a positive point, since "source" doesn't mean "better".

Why not add a few more options to the poll such as demographics or Color versus Black-and-White manga/anime?

I prefer Shonen manga to Shonen anime but I have no preferences either way to Seinen manga/anime other than I prefer it to the youth-focused fare no matter how fun some of it can be at times.

Oh, and anything by Satoshi Kon.

I watched the D-Gray Man anime with my sister and picked up where I left off, this is the only time I did that, I love the Fairy Tail and Katekyo Hitman Reborn Manga and Anime, I didn't like how the reborn anime added pointless arcs of nothing that contradicted the story, Fairy Tail did some filler but only a small bit.

I'll be reading the Soul Eater manga soon and then watch the anime, as for Bleach, fuck it, I'll read it, too much anime filler bullshit, same with Naruto, although after 550 chapters, I really don't want to keep reading it, it's gotten boring. One Piece is fine, have to keep reading that.
I still watch the Fairy Tail anime weekly even though ive jumped ship. It's got pretty much the only filler I actually enjoy. FT has my favourite cast in anime, with your avatar as my very favourite character. So it's always a joy to watch. Ive enjoyed every single FT ep so far bar the crappy Jiggle Butts episode. Good animation for an ongoing series as well.

I recently watched the Soul Eater anime, and I'm gonna read the manga once I can be bothered finding out where to start. (The anime made up an ending.) I dropped Naruto as well, but the anime. Never read the manga. It wasn't even in a filler arc and it was still boring me. I may get back to it eventually. One Piece I still enjoy. Started reading the manga at a similar time to FT. Though ive stopped watching the anime for that, at least until I can watch a number of episodes in a row.

I don't care for either, but I've read more Manga than I've watched Anime, so I guess I'ld choose Manga.

I'll take it on a case-by-case basis honestly. I strongly preferred Bleach when it was a Manga (although I stopped reading after they saved Rukia). DBZ was another one I preferred as a Manga. Same with Fist of the North Star...Petshop of Horror...ok, for me it's a 60-40 manga-to-anime kind of thing. I haven't encountered a GTO, Baka and Test, Love Hina or, To Love Ru in the form of a Manga so they win out by default.

Manga are often superior to their anime counterparts.
Anime almost always have stuff cut out of them or changed to fit their 20 minute format.
Usually to the detriment of the story.
