Im just curious, how many people here have studied martial arts. Ive touched into many different areas of this subject and have found all of them interesting in theory and in practicality. I wonder if any of you have taken any class that I have not named. I am also curious as to what belt/rank some of you are. (yes, I am aware that some styles don't use these systems.) If you have taken multiple classes, let us know. I want to hear your pros/cons of each.

I take Che Wed Kung Fu.

Haven't been taking it for very long, so I'm only a white sash in it.
It's physical yes, but it's also a lot of the defensive side as well. A mixture of both to be honest.

I took Tae Kwon Do when I was, like, 10 or something. Got all the way to "purple" belt before I realized that kicking the shit out of people in video games was easier and more efficient.

I've always considered taking up another martial art, though.

Technically, fencing is a "martial art," just not in the traditional sense.

I've been seriously looking into taking Muay Thai though.

I used to practice Kyokushinkai Karate. I stopped for various reasons and now want to get into Muay Thai Kickboxing.

I'm about to take a Tai Chi class, and if my school is to be believed, that's a martial art.

EDIT: I really want to learn Escrima and Jeet Kune Do. Really. REALLY. Like, you don't even know how bad I wanna learn Escrima.

I did karate, until I realised my sensei was a total hack... I got a blue belt, which is the fifth up in my dojo...

I've done Judo (Which I'm going back to.) a bit of Hapkido and a bit of Karate. However, in my experience Judo is the most useful of the three, as most fights descend to a grappling match very fast.

I have found Wing Chun useful for self defence (used to frequent rough pubs in my youth) one thing I have learned is you never, ever want to end up on the floor if things "kick off". You either try & talk things down or hit hard & fast & run. Not proud of having to hit people to get out of bad situations but sometimes things go wrong. Too many people see UFC etc & forget it's a sport with rules, officials etc. All Martial Arts have pro's & con's, take the best bits from each.

Started doing Fitness Kickboxing classes 4 and a half months ago. A few weeks ago, I also started taking Mixed Martial Arts classes at the same school.

Always found that a well-placed headbut and a knee to the groin works well, and without the whole 'honour' bullshit.

Tried Judo. Got bored when it turned out that a lot of people have problems throwing a 230 pounds of vile-tempered teen. And because I never abided by the rules.

'No, I'll be damned if I bow to him.'

'Why can't I gouge his eyes? You said it was a proper fight?'

'Well that's just silly, why don't you break his leg while you're at it?'

Always seemed a little silly, turning fighting into a sport.

sorry, i misspelled that one, its Krav maga. Anyway, its close quaters combat using a lot of elbows and knees. Its used for a lot for escaping holds.

also, Ive taken some Basic Tai Chi myself and its normally not a self defence. However, combined with almost any other martial art, it becomes devastating very quickly. I combine it with bits of Krav Maga.
