Poll: Mass Effect - post ME3

So, the other day I found this guy on a manga/anime website raving on and on in multiple forums about how the Mass Effect franchise was on its way to be milked like Final Fantasy, until I shut him up by pointing at BioWare's track record.

The fact is, BioWare isn't exactly known for churning out endless sequels (possibly because they are Canadians - their moms probably didn't teach them how to rip people off, unlike ours' amiright guys?). Look at their best titles: Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Jade Empire - bar the expansion packs, none of them went beyond a second installment. Instead we got new IPs: Dragon Age and Mass Effect.

But the fact is, in my book, a clean track record ensures nothing. Neither does a 'this-is-the-last-we-promise'. What's to say that the imbecile shareholders of EA will not demand endless sequels to be churned out, if not EA itself?

So here's my question - where do you want the franchise to go post-ME3? Does the expansive universe it has set demand further exploration? Or do you fear further sequels will turn it into the next (Flying Spaghetti Monster forbid!) Star Wars?

Shepard's story should end in the 3rd game (Bioware said as much), it's time for a different character and time zone, either years after the reaper invasion or a prequal, such as during the first contact wa or the Rachni wars/Krogan Rebellions.

I would be perfectly happy if Mass Effect never appeared again after Mass Effect 3. I highly doubt that will happen, but for me, knowing about Shep and her team is all I care about. Still, if they make another game, I'll keep my eye on it.

I hope it will end after ME3, nothing destroys a franchise like to many sequels. All the plot holes in the universe gets more and more clear and before long it just seems hollow.

I'd like to see a sort of DA:O but Mass Effect game. We get to choose an alien race, and we go for a nice romp through space. Should be quite entertaining.

This, let's play as a different character of any race (OK probably not any race, maybe just sticking with the council races, Quarians and Krogan probably, oh and Drell, I'm sure a few people would want to be a Drell).

There are other stories outside of Shepard's and hey we've only seen 4 spectres throughout the two games (including Shepard) let's play as another one of them. Political intrigue and assassinations, you could totally work a good game out of that.

Hilarious how nobody wants Shepard anymore. I personally want to be a Salarian/Turian.

It's not that people don't like Shepard, I think we just want him/her to remain as a character that found out about, and destroyed, the Reapers. Anything he/she does after that will seem insignificant in comparison. Better to leave a character at their peak than past their prime *cough*IndianaJones*cough*

I dont think shephard should be the main character in the next game after ME3, although we could maybe have some kind of awakening-ish type expansion where you help rebuild the grey wardens, uh i mean alliance.. and whatnot

Shepard's story should end in 3, but I would absolutely adore more books, especially books focused on the different races and history. Like... asari finding the Citadel, the hanar saving the drell, quarians and the geth uprising, turians and the Unifaction War..

after mass effect 3 i think it should stop since it's going to get repetitive with shepard saving race after race owning the impossible.

saying that, i am hoping shepard dies and stays that way in some epic way like finding the boss reaper when your cut off from your squad and make the ultimate sacrifice.

I think a game set during the First Contact War would be awesome. Especially if you could choose to play either side of the conflict.

Shepard unites all the races to deal with the Reapers, after their defeat some crappy civil war occurs splitting the races down the middle.

And then the MMO...

I'm gonna say, some new Hero or different type of game. The ME universe is interesting enough to house more games though, so no need to put it aside yet.

That said, I wouldn't mind if they released a new IP either.

Shepard's awesome, but I'd also love to see the universe explored more in depth.

With so many different species, planets, and events (First Contact War anyone?) the list of what could be done is endless.

Prequel, sequel, interquel, whatever. I just want to see more.
