So I'm sitting here looking at my sister's purse setting on the table, and thinking "damn I wish I could carry one of those without getting really funny looks". The amount of crap she's got crammed in there, where as I am limited to what my wallet and pockets can carry, which isn't a lot if I don't want my pants to look like their bulging at inappropriate moments.

So do you ever wish it was socially acceptable for men to carry a purse around?

I never really carried around that much to warrant a purse being wanted for convenience's sake, though I wouldn't judge if any man would.

I normally have a coat and jeans with tons of deep pockets. It's comfortable, a bit more organized and doesn't wear ones shoulder down.

I just carry around a backpack if I have extra stuff to carry. Otherwise though, my coat has more than enough pockets for my phone, iPod and wallet.

No I have never had that desire. Not having a purse keeps me from carrying too much shit around with me.

Yes. I've carried around a bag like that before, and was really surprised when I found out how useful it can be.

Messenger Bag, my friend.
It's essentially a purse, but more manly.

Not by much, and you might look out of place if you're not wearing it while riding a bike or free running or some other... thing like that.
Still...

i carried a backpack with me wherever i went for about 6 years after i graduated. kept all my important stuff like my wallet, as well as at least 1 or 2 books, plus assorted meds (pain relievers, antihistamines, an albuterol inhaler, etc.), and sometimes light snacks. oh, and a pocket knife. i always like to be prepared. even now i carry a book with me everywhere. you never know when you'll have to wait for someone or something.

It'd be nice to have the option. I don't see how more options would be better (except for indecisive people). I still haven't found a satisfactory solution to my glasses for day-to-day things. I'm not supposed to wear them when reading or at a computer, so I'm constantly taking them on and off. At least at school I have my messenger bag I have somewhere to put the case.

Good god, no. I've seen the interior of my ex's purse. It was a cluttered mess of crap. Mostly useless crap, too.
I'm happy to stick with my cargo shorts/pants, thank you very much.
And if I really need to carry around more stuff than my waist can support, I have a bookbag on hand 90% of the time.
