How many of you guys actively mod games as opposed to just playing them? I've been messing around with Civ 4 for a looong while now, and I'm wondering if there are other modders on this forum.

Aside fom the original Quake, not really.

Even then it was just map and gametype building rathre than full conversions.

I sometimes make random additions to things like Morrowind and Oblivion, but that's about it.

If the game has a built-in option, I I usually do(like with Fallout 3's G.E.C.K.). Otherwise, it's kind of dependent on what the game is. I also modded The Sims 2 to get more meshes, which I usually skinned myself.
As for Civ4, I played it, but never modded it.

I used to do this. Also I made that famous GTA IV mod long before our pirates did here, I basically changed all of the cars in the game, added some more city parts (like rollercoaster-like island) changed textures of NPCs, buildings and some other stuff that I forgot. Most of that I found on some german site that no one here knew about, and some stuff I improvised :D
Edit:I forgot to say, everything was made on good ol' Windows 98. That was 2002, I was 13 years old :D

Most of my modding is limited to putting a big bunch of mods that I like together. STALKER, in particular, is a game in which WinMerge and a workable knowledge of the game's basic behaviour comes in quite handy even if not actually making mods.

I use them occasionally to breathe some new life into a game that's getting stale for me. I'm running a custom sound pack with L4D.

This video has most of the soundpack's stuff placed over the intro movie. I found it hilarious the first time I saw it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=441UwCYPPUU

So there are some others out there :) Good to know. Civ 4 is a good one to mod as the entire game is open and written in Python and C++. Not that I'm much of a programmer; I tend to help out with graphics and grunt work like XMLing. How hard are others to mod? I know The Sims and SimCity have places ready to add things in, but what about other things?
