Same opinion I've had on every CoD game in recent memory, a great big resounding 'meh'.

Played the first few CoD games, but I really just can't be assed with a shooter series that is trying to rival Madden in frequency of new titles.

It's not going to be the same as every other CoD game, but it is going to be mediocre at best. They will no doubt follow the story from MW and MW2, which took a major turn for the worse in MW2, to a point where it cannot be repaired in my eyes.

I'll try it for the single-player missions, but I won't buy it. I'd like to know how the game really is rather than just assume it's poor, so I guess it's off to a friends place or something when it does show up and someone I know ends up buying it.

As for the multi-player, I'm sure everyone are 100% it's going to be exactly like the previous games, though we may get the occasional new weapon and/or gadget to play with. Some new maps primarily derived from the single-player, and maybe some recirculated ones from the previous games, though those will likely show up in the form of DLC that you'll have to pay about 10 EURO to get.

It'll be good, but I doubt it will re-write the FPS rulebook the same way the original Halo or CoD4 did, or even Half Life did. It will be just another entry into an already over saturated genre

"Mediocre at best" and "The same as every other cod" are the same options, by the way. Nothing the call of duty franchise has done has convinced me it will be anything better than "meh".

They don't tell good stories, the stories are short, they don't balance well, they don't support their games, and the multiplayer is bland and unexciting with a horrible spawn system.

Okay, Modern Warfare 1's story was decent, but the rest of the above was true.

The formula is getting a little stale. It's basically cut scene, big set piece, cut scene, big set piece... I found it fun when I played the original on PC and the others up to Modern Warfare 1 because it was exciting and breathtaking to be put in one frantic situation after another, but now it's getting tedious. I need more of a story, a flow, some contrast so that the big set piece feels like a big set piece.

Since its spread among different developers, I can only presume a drop in singleplayer quality and an increase in multiplayer balance.

Not a good thing.

It's still going to be badass, though.

I gave an over the top plot description in another thread, taking all the issues I had experienced in MW1 and 2, and turning them up to 11. In that description I included what I thought was the hilariously exageration of Modern Warfare's stupidly overpowered mellee weapons, a la instant knife kills, which got worse in 2 as they seem to have increased its range, and allowed it to clip through objects for a kill.

So I stated that the new mellee weapon in MW3 would be an instant kill Native American tomahawk, thinking HA, how dumb would that be. Later while surfing Youtube I was amazed to find compilation videos of peoples tomahawk montages in Black Ops.
Defying all logic and reason, they had actually used a game mechanic that I had made up to demonstate how overpowered melee weapons were in a game about "Modern" warfare. And the kicker was that they took it one step further, having the tomahawk as a throwing weapon. Thats right, the deadliest ranged weapon on the battlefield of 2010, was the tomahawk.

It's just a way to make a new multi player server that people need to buy the new game to get access to so they can play on it when it's exactly the same as the last one. And because everyone wants to play multi player the entire community will move over and blehhhhhhhh.

It has Call of Duty on it. It doesn't matter how good it is.
The devs know that, so I don't expect them to put too much love into this. If they prove me wrong, good for them......still not gonna buy it though.

It will be the same game with the same multiplayer that will be insanely popular, but with a better coat of paint. I'm not at all excited and I don't plan on getting it at launch or sometime after, if at all, but if I do it will be much much later when it's cheaper. There's no way in hell I'm paying $60 for basically a multiplayer game.
