Poll: Music Talk: M.I.A.

If you haven't listened to MIA's Kala I bet you've still heard music off it; Paper Planes was everywhere for a while. And while Paper Planes is a great song, it's probably one of the weaker songs an the album. Not because it's worse than any of the other tracks but because it's so different from every other track. Personally I think Kala is pretty brilliant as a whole. I bought it last year, listened to it a ton, then kinda forgot about it. When I put it back on today I got to remember just how great it is. So if you haven't listened to it I highly recommend it.

For those who have heard it, or any other MIA, what do you think? How does it compare to her other albums? (Kala's her only one I've listened to.) What are your favorite tracks? Do you think that Paper Planes fits with the sound of the other tracks? Can you recommend any other artist/songs/albums?

Were they the ones who had that music video where all the ginger people were being rounded up and hunted?

I love that album. I'm a huge fan of The Clash, but it didn't bother me at all that she sampled "Straight to Hell" for "Paper Planes". The drum samples for "Bird Flu" are outstanding.

I even loved the album at a time when I didn't like hardly any hip-hop or dance music.
