Poll: My Little Pony - Your favourite season?

With the fourth season of MLP just around the corner, I though I'd make this post, asking the Escapist communty what, if any, is their favourite of the three curretly aired seasons of the show, if they have such a favourite.

Reasons why you made your choice would be appreciated.

I would say Season 2. Season 3 definitely had some great episodes, but at half the length and with that constant feeling of doom in the air as to whether that meant the end, it couldn't quite match up. It also helped that I joined the fandom just after Season 1 finished airing, so Season 2 was the first one I saw unfold episode-by-episode, and it was when I really started to join in with the community. So, I kinda prefer it due to personal, external factors, more than anything. Had Season 3 been full-length, I might have had that contending more.

Truth be told, all of the seasons had their charm for me; there's none I'd really say were especially bad compared to the others. Season 2 just hit that sweet spot, although with what the creators have divulged thus far, Season 4 may well be able to knock that off the top spot...

I loved season 3, it had about the same ratio of bad/meh/good/great episodes as the other seasons, despite it's short length. And I'm one of those people who loved MMC.

But season 2 was great, there really is no denying it. The amount of stuff going on there is just too great to ignore. Also, two of the three episodes that got me hooked were in that. Super Speedy Cider Squeezy and Luna Eclipsed. So I'd have to say season 2, but only just barely.

Going to have to go with Season 2. Had a collection of great episodes. Although Season 1 was also great.

Season 3 had some good episodes as well, but for the most part I felt it was a bit lacking. Hopefully season 4 will make up for it.

Season 2 had a more grand story with The Crystal Empire and Discord. Season 1 did what MLP did best, a slice of life style. I preferred Season 2 myself. Season 3 was short and all over the place, no Rarity episode etc. Both first seasons had Iconic Episodes and also their shit episodes. I believe DigiBrony and BronyCurious did comparisons of seasons as a whole too, you guys should check them out.

I voted S1, but it was a tough choice, especially now that my two fave episodes are from S3 (KC&FO and Sleepless).
I suppose it's that S3 was so short, has one episode that I really don't like to think about (there's not an episode from S1 that I don't love) and S1 is what made me love the show/characters.
Love me some S2 as well, but since I had to decide...

What would be the point of that? The poll is for people who both watch and like the show. If you don't like it, or don't watch it, why on earth would you want to vote in a poll about it?


Season two was definitely the best in my opinion. Several fantastic Rarity-centred episodes, my favourite episode of the whole show so far (Sweet and Elite), two of my three favourite songs (Becoming Popular, This Day Aria) a whole lot of other solid episodes, more development of the CMCs (and a little development for Silver Spoon), and some glimpses into the history of Equestria.

Wouldn't it be safe to assume that if you didn't like Mlp, you wouldn't click on a thread about Mlp? Or is common sense not that common anymore?

I'm going to jump on the season 2 bandwagon here. Season 3 may have had about the same good-meh episode ratio, but I'm in the group that really didn't care for the season three finale. Additionally, Discord and Chrysalis were more interesting villains for me than Nightmare Moon or Sombra. Season two also had Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000, one of my favorite episodes, with one of my favorite songs.

Easily Season 1. No question about it, imho.

S2 was a mixed bag of awesome and disappointing. S3 was much more consistent and its weaker episodes generally weren't as weak as S2's (Magic Duel being the big exception), but simultaneously had no episodes at all that could compete with the strong S2 or S1 episodes. Overall, S3 was sub-par on average and really felt like it jumped the shark a few too many times. S1 was all around solid, with only one bad episode in the whole bunch (the emo-fest that was Owl's Well).

I also really never quite liked the direction the show went in from Lesson Zero onwards. Far too much flanderizing, out-of-character moments, and too little emphasis on being lighthearted left me very disappointed in both S2 and S3. S3's emphasis on Twilight alone really did not help matters in the slightest, nor did Worfing Celestia in S2's Wedding.

Season 1 for sure.

Season 2 was great, yeah, but it felt like it was trying too hard to please the Brony community instead of just being it's own thing. And Season 3 was just a big disappointing pile of mediocrity that felt rushed and rather "meh" overall, and which had an absolutely horrible season finale to boot. Season 1, on the other hand, was the only season where it not only felt good throughout but also felt like it was just trying to be good for the sake of being good. That it was just trying to be it's own thing without wanting to please anyone or without anything to live up to, so to speak. Not being good to simply make the fanbase happy, or trying too hard to be good and falling flat on its face. It just was good. And that's what made the first season fantastic to me...

... that and it has most of my favorite episodes and songs, so that helps too.

I can't really decide, each seasons had some great episodes. I don't get the 'meh' a lot of people give season 3 though, it had a really good start and a fantastic final episode that beat the hell out of the damn royal wedding.

S1 had the best songs with Suited for Success, Winter Wrap Up and (when properly tuned) the CMC song...

S2 had my favourite actual episodes with Lesson Zero, Luna Eclipsed and It's About Time

And S3 had that epic sense of something greater with Twilicorn at the end...

I really like them all, as hollow an answer that is. If I was held at gunpoint to choose...shit, Season 3, I guess.

Season 2, followed closely by Season 1. The way S2 started and ended was superb, A Canterlot Wedding blew my mind.

As for Season 3, it's pretty meh and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who was looking to watch MLP. Just the first two seasons have all the joy/laughter anyone needs.
Lauren Faust had no involvement with Season 3 and it was obvious as hell for me, even after factoring in the halved episode count I feel the fun/charming moments were rare.

Can't really decide. I loved certain episodes from Season 1 (Winter Wrap Up, Cutie Mark Chronicles) and some of the songs were epic (Winter Wrap Up, At The Gala[footnote]The German version is even better IMO.[/footnote]).
Season 2 had my most favorite villain to date (Discord, his voice actor and personality are just the best) as well as some cool episodes (Mysterious Mare Do Well[footnote]Others seem to dislike this episode more than I do[/footnote], Read It and Weep) and the Smile song, which is my favorite of all the seasons' songs.
Season 3 I haven't watched since it aired, so I can't really give an opinion on it, but I remember enjoying Too Many Pinkies a lot.
